Gerald J. “Jerry” Mattoon

Gerald J. “Jerry” Mattoon, 90, of Lyndonville, NY, entered into rest on Mon., June 13, 2022 at his home with his loving family at his side.

Born on Nov. 28, 1931 in Avoca, NY, he was the son of the late Kenneth O. and Mary (Kleckler) Mattoon.

Gerald grew up in Avoca, NY and on Dec. 2, 1950 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War with the rank of Corporal. He returned home in 1953 and married the love of his life Rosemary “Peg” Boyce and together made their home in Medina and raising three kids. Gerald retired from Harrison Radiator in 1988. He was an avid handyman willing to do any project or manual labor for family and friends.

Gerald is survived by his children: Michael Mattoon of Oakfield, Caren (Mike) Eckerd of Lyndonville; grandchildren: Debi (Max Metcalf) Mattoon of Oakfield, Damien (Erin) Lawrence of Buffalo, Emily James of Lyndonville, Morgan (Chris) James of Middleport, Haley (Leo) Eckerd of Lyndonville, Kelsey Mattoon of Oswego, Michael (Amanda) Eckerd III of  Albion; great-grandchildren: Ayden, Cameron, Zoey, Brody, Carter, Chase, Serenity, Devin, Nathan, Ava, Braylyn, and Charlotte; sister, Norma Cooper of Avoca; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and his wife, Gerald is predeceased by brothers: Donald, Erwin, Harold, and Larry Mattoon; and daughter, Denise Lawrence.

Relatives and friends may call on Wed., June 22, 2022 from 11 am – 1 pm at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St,. Medina, NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held at 1 pm with the Rev. Daniel A. Thurber officiating. Burial will be in the Millville Cemetery with full military honors.
