Gerald “Gerry” J. Stipp

Gerald “Gerry” J. Stipp, 88, of Medina, NY entered eternal rest on Sun., March 5 th , 2023, after a brief

illness with his loving family by his side.

Gerry was born on June 27, 1934, in Scranton, PA to the late Alfred and Katherine (Kunyon) Stipp.

He was predeceased by his sister Muriel and brother-in-law Theodore Justyk and brother Eugene and sister-in-law Eleonore Stipp, all of Niagara Falls, NY.

Gerry grew up in Niagara Falls and graduated from Trott Vocational School. He joined the U.S. Air Force

in 1953 serving in the 46 th Communications Squadron at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA. During the

Korean War he served as a Comm Center Specialist stationed in Japan. He achieved the rank of Airman 2 nd class and awarded a Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service

Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and AF Outstanding Unit Award. Following his service, he worked in

production for Kimberly-Clark corporation in Niagara Falls.

Gerry was a member of St. Mary’s RC Church in Medina. He especially loved bowling, big band era

music, and forensic science. He had a zest for learning, taking Spanish language lessons up until the time

of his passing. He loved telling his life stories and was always the “life of the party.”

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 60 years Virginia “Ginny” E. (Tuttle) Stipp; son Al and

daughter-in-law Karen Stipp, son Michael Stipp and Kate Bealer, daughter Stephanie and son-in-law Tim

Smith, grandchildren Curtis Stipp and Bri Backlund, Craig Stipp, Morgan Stipp, and Cameron Stipp;

several nieces and nephews; and extended family.

 

A memorial service with military funeral honors will be held on a later date to be determined by the

family at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Medina.
