Gerald Edward Dowd

Brockport- It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the sudden unexpected passing of Gerald Edward Dowd. 

Originally of Clarendon, NY, Jerry was born to John and Dorothy Dowd on June 11, 1945. He graduated from Holley High School in 1963 as a star athlete. In 1965 he married Marjorie Lochner of Webster, NY where they started a family, having two sons: Kevin in 1966 and John in 1968. Jerry began an apprenticeship at Kodak where he retired as a top machinist after 30 years of employment. Jerry did not stop working after leaving Kodak. He was a member and assistant chief of the Clarendon fire department, a snow plow operator for nearly 45 years between Clarendon & Brockport, and finally a truck driver for a large area produce farm. Jerry loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Jerry was a loyal and honest friend to anyone in need. 

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mackanose Dowd; sons: Sgt Kevin Dowd and Dr. John (Julie) Dowd; six loving grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and twin sister, Geraldine Ward; and elder sister, Annette Thuman. 

Jerry is and forever will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at the Elks Club of Brockport, 4400 Sweden Walker Rd. on Fri., Nov. 26, 2-6 p.m. All that know Jerry are invited to attend and share in the joy of Jerry’s life.
