Gayle H. Woodruff of Hamburg, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville, NY, at the age of 77.
Born on October 7, 1948, in Albion, NY, Gayle was the son of the late Clayton and Hazel (Bates) Woodruff. He attended St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ in Hamburg and found joy in music, boating, and cheering for his beloved Buffalo Bills.
Gayle worked as an Operating Engineer and was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 17 in Buffalo, NY. Following his retirement, he partnered with his wife, Denise, in operating Key Liquors in Cheektowaga.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Denise (Fogle) Woodruff; his children, Dan (Angela) Woodruff of Hamburg and Katie Woodruff of Rochester; and his sister, Kae (Terry) Wilbert of Albion. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew’s United Church, 5289 McKinley Pkwy., Hamburg, where a Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kayti Dean officiating. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon following the service. Final interment will take place in Mount Albion Cemetery, Albion, NY.
