Francis “Peter” Trupo
FRIENDSHIP – Francis “Peter” Trupo, of Friendship, went peacefully to be with the Lord, Wednesday (January 3, 2024) after a long illness.
Francis was born on September 10, 1939, in Hulberton, a son of the late Frank and Florence Engert Trupo.
On October 15, 1960, at the St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Holley, he married the former Anita Lusk who survives.
Francis graduated from the Holley Central School in 1957, entered the U.S. Army in 1958, and proudly served in the 101st Airborne Div. Command and Control. He worked for the Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester until his retirement, with many good memories of his co-workers there.
Francis was a proud member of the American Legion post #1168 in Friendship. Former member of Fancher, Hulberton, and Murray Fire Departments. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, and drag racing autos and motorcycles he had modified. He enjoyed kickboxing, horse racing, casino trips, and family camping. He loved his garden and growing garlic.
Francis is survived by his wife Anita of 63 years; his children, Beth Marie (David) Stern of Cape Coral, FL., and Thomas Scott Trupo of Friendship; granddaughter, Mindi Stern Spearance (Mitch Barnhill) of Cape Coral, Fl., bonded with and loved his great-grandson, John David Francis Stern of Cape Coral, FL.; siblings, John (Katie) Trupo of Burke, VA., Mike (Sue) Trupo of Rochester, Mary (Jerry) Lord of Hilton; proudly loved his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Florence; son, David Peter Trupo; grandson, John David Stern (Kimmie Burdick); siblings, Helen (George) Hunt and Thomas (Patty) Trupo; niece, Mary Helen Hunt Karmu.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday (February 3, 2024) at 12 noon at St. Leo the Great R.C. Church, 110 Old Hojack Lane, Hilton, NY 14468. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean.
