Francis Manuel

Francis A. “Frank” Manuel, of Hartland, passed away on Sun., March 22, 2020, after a short illness.

Frank was born on the family farm in Hartland, Dec. 6, 1938, son of the late Salvatore “Sam” and Catherine (Saluzzo) Manuel. He graduated from Roy-Hart schools and lived in the Hartland/Middleport area all of his life.

Frank was employed at Harrison Radiator Division of GM for 30 years. He was always involved with farming, and after retirement he grew potatoes and garlic as his “second career,” running a farm stand on Ridge Road. Frank enjoyed riding Harleys in his younger days and had a story or two that he would proudly share about his “adventures.” He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family, his friends and his spoiled dog (usually a border collie). Frank, with the help of friends and family, built his own home, where he loved to spend time on the patio with his wife, Dona, enjoying the wildlife and watching the garlic grow.

Frank was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Dona; and his sister, Josephine Roberts.

He is survived by his children, Richard (Karen) Manuel, Samuel (Donna) Manuel, and Elizabeth (Michael) Schaal; many nephews and nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several loyal neighbors and great friends, including his best friend, “Jack” Walker, and Jack’s wife, Marilyn.

There will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will take place at West Ridgeway Cemetery.

The family suggests that, in lieu of cards or flowers, donations in Frank’s memory may be made to Niagara Hospice.

Arrangements are in the care of Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Please share memories and condolences at www.cooperfuneralhome.com.
