Frances A. Benben

Frances A. “Fran” Benben, 87, of Medina, went to be with her husband in heaven on Sat., March 23, 2019 at Medina Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 17, 1931 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Elmer and Vera (Garrison) Wagner.

Fran graduated from Akron High School and went to work for Sylvania in Batavia. On Oct. 25, 1952, she married the late Stanley P. Benben, and together they made their home in Medina and raised three children. From 1968 to 1990, she owned and operated Fran’s Fashion on Main Street in Medina. In her early years, she enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and cards, and she was an avid baseball fan.

Fran is survived by her children, Paul J. (Sandra) Benben of Medina and Pam Owen of Los Angeles; a granddaughter, Cristy (Caleb) Rhodes of Meadville, Pa.; a great-grandson, Gavin Rhodes of Meadville; four siblings, Betty (Lawrence) Pafk of Akron, Esther (Richard) Brown of Middleport, Richard (Joanne) Wagner of Batavia, and Nancy Forbes of Lockport; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Fran is predeceased by her daughter, Denise Benben; two grandsons, James Benben and Graham Owen; and three siblings, Carol Schubel, Elmer Wagner Jr. and Lois Ayler.

Relatives and friends may call on Wed., March 27 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina NY 14103. The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls will celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial on Thu., March 28 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Fran’s name to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1775 Wehrle Drive #150, Buffalo NY 14221.
