Flora J. (Fuzzy) Posson of Medina died peacefully on Sun., Dec. 20 after a very full 106 years of life.

Flora, along with her triplet sister and brother, was born at home in Medina on Jan. 19, 1914 to Jessie Poler Posson and J. Cornelius Posson. After graduating from Medina High School in 1932, she went to Skidmore College to study secretarial science and put those skills to use at FMC in Middleport, from where she eventually retired. In both high school and college Flora excelled in basketball and tennis. Flora was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, having joined in 1922. She was active in the Tupelo Twig with the Medina Memorial Hospital Twig Association. Flora was also active with the Child Welfare League, providing local children with opportunities to attend summer camp.

Flora was an animal lover and considered her pets part of her family. She loved to dance (tango was her favorite!) and played bridge well into her later years. She also loved to eat, and sweets were her favorite. Flora’s passion for Medina was based on her love of the people, the weather, and the town and she could not imagine ever living anyplace else. Despite her advanced years, Flora was able to continue living in her home with 24-hour care. Nothing made her happier than sitting on her front porch or having a vase of flowers from the garden. Her caregivers remember her as “Feisty Fuzzy” and they loved to hear her opinions about the topics at hand. Flora will be remembered most for her kindness, compassion, positive attitude, and a smile that lit up a room and all of those around her.

Flora is survived by her kitty, Baby; her devoted nieces: Jennifer Cassidy of Hartford, Conn. and Shari Cassidy of San Francisco, Calif., and several cousins. In addition to her parents, Flora is predeceased by her sisters: Virginia Cassidy and Margaret Posson and her brother, Karl Posson. Her nieces would like to extend special thanks to all her past and present caregivers for the loving care provided to their aunt.

A celebration of Flora’s life will be held at her home in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Save a Pet, PO Box 114, Newfane, NY 14108; or Hospice of Orleans, P.O. Box 489, Albion, NY 14411.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina, NY 14103.
