F. Lena Pellegrino

HOLLEY – F. Lena Pellegrino, 92, died May 11, 2023 in the Schoellkopf Nursing Facility following a long illness.

She was born September 13, 1930 in Varpodio, Italy to Rocco and Caterina (Guerrisi) Gatto and had lived in this area since coming to America in 1948.

Lena was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church of Holley, where she volunteered on many committees including the Bereavement Committee and often cooked for the St. Rocco’s Festival.  She was a devoted and faithful member of her church.  Her main passion however, was being with and taking care of her family.

Mrs. Pellegrino was predeceased by her husband Giuseppe as well as her brother Graziano and sisters: Amelia and Pina.

She is survived by her children: Carmela (Jim) Breslawski of Brockport, Frank (Mary) Pellegrino of NC, and Joseph Pellegrino of Holley; her brother, Gino Gatto of Italy; her sisters: Tina Campbell of Brockport and Concettina Gatto of Italy as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 16650 State Rt. 31-Holley, on Monday, May 22, from 5-7 p.m. only. Family and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 23, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s R.C. Church-Holley.  Entombment will be in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum in Batavia.
