Eva Klafehn

Eva (Shawver) Klafehn, 79, of Albion, passed away on Aug. 28, 2019 following a long illness with cancer. She was born May 7, 1940 in Beavertown, Pa., the daughter of Marlin and Virginia (Spacht) Shawver.

Eva was an extraordinary mother and grandmother. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and always made holidays extra special. She gave her undivided attention and unconditional love to everyone. Her favorite hobby was quilting, and she made quilts for every grandchild to cherish. She could sew, draw, and bake anything. Eva also loved reading, gardening, playing games, the New York Yankees, and ladybugs, and she was famous for her organizational skills and for making lists. She will be missed beyond words, but the wisdom and love she gave will be with us always.

Eva was predeceased by her parents; her husbands, Richard Klafehn and James Czerkies Sr.; her brothers, Donald Shawver, Randall Shawver and Glen Shawver; her son, James Czerkies Jr.; her step-grandson, Alex John Klafehn; and her sisters-in-law, Marie Shawver and Carolyn Shawver.

Eva is survived by her sons, Ronald (Kathy) Reed and Scott (Mary) Reed; daughter, Deborah (Paul) Thurston; stepdaughters, Laura (Matt Toole) Beehler and Barbara (Jack Szyikowski) Czerkies; stepson, David (Diane) Klafehn; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Franklin (Shirley) Shawver and Gerald Shawver; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion NY 14411, on Fri., Aug. 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. Eva’s funeral service will be held on Sat., Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. at Carlton United Methodist Church, 1196 Archbald Road, Waterport NY 14571. Interment will follow in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
