Eugene C. Wanecski

Eugene C. Wanecski, of Medina, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at the age of 87 at the Discover Commons South Biscayne in Northport, FL, where he resided briefly to be closer to family in his final days.

Born in Medina on December 1, 1936, he was a son of the late John and Ida (Waszak) Wanecski. Mr. Wanecski served in the U.S. Army as Sergeant First Class. On June 3, 1961 he married the former Nancy L. Bloom. Mr. Wanecski was well traveled, having had an extensive career as an overseas manufacturing engineer for Harrison Delphi Division of GM, retiring after 42 years. He was an active parishioner of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus RC Church in Medina and was also a member of the Sacred Heart Club and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion. Mr. Wanecski had a gift for woodworking and was a true outdoorsman.

Mr. Wanecski was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Wanecski in 2003; his grandson, Derrick Wanecski in 2023; siblings, Stanley Wanecski, Walter Wanecski, Florence Banazwski, Rita Mazur and Helen Zelazny.

Survivors include his sons, Jerome (Bridget) Wanecski of Myakka City, FL and John (Casey) Wanecski of Lakeworth, FL; grandchildren, Blake (Jenny), Brandi (Adam), Emily, Austin and Jessica (Sal); great-grandchildren, Reece and Elodie; and several nieces and nephews.

SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 10am-12pm with his funeral immediately to follow at 12pm at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina.
