Elsie B. Egling

ROCHESTER/ALBION – Elsie B. Egling, born December 23rd, 1922 and entered into rest on November 13th, 2022 at age 99.  

Elsie Egling is survived by her daughter Sheashaunna (Sheila) Yvonne Egling (Paul), Michael Arthur Egling and Douglas George (Kate) Egling, 6 grandchildren (Allyson Y. Wright, Lisa M. (Corey) Berardicurti, Heidi C. (Ron) Mistretta, lan D. (Allison) Egling, Brennan S. (Margot) Egling, and Ondeya R. (Dan) Campbell and 10 great grandchildren: Marc Johnson, Zachary (Christina) Mistretta, Savannah Wright, Adelaide Egling, Raeiah Egling, Micah Egling, Miles Egling, Jonathan Campbell, Anthony Campbell, Olivia Campbell.  

She is predeceased by her husband Clarence A. Egling Jr., sisters (Lutitia, Catherine, Eleanor), brother, Norman Bell, and her grandson Orin.  

She was a lifelong member of St. Simon’s Episcopal Church in Rochester NY before moving to Albion in 1997 and becoming a member of Christ’s Episcopal Church in Albion. She returned to college at about age 50 and received her bachelor’s degree in teaching from Brockport St. University. She taught in the Rochester City School District and received her tenure by 1992. Of the many great colloquialisms that will live on in her family, one often remembered is “know many, trust few, learn to paddle your own canoe…” She was fiercely independent and has always been an incredibly strong woman. 

Elsie’s family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home 21 West Ave. Albion, NY 14411 on Friday, November 18th from 10:00-11:00am where her funeral service will follow at 11:00. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Penfield, NY. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elsie’s name may be made to Harvest Christian Fellowship 560 East Ave, Albion, NY 14411.
