Elsie A. Barringer, 92, of Albion passed away March 7, 2021 at Orchard Nursing and Rehab. Center in Medina. She was born July 19, 1928 in Albion to the late Gerald and Marian (Pettine) Fortunato. She was a lifelong resident of this area.

Elsie worked part-time for the Albion School District for several years in the cafeteria when her children were young. She then began to work in the housekeeping department at Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital where she worked until it closed in 1989 which resulted in her retirement.

She enjoyed playing BINGO and buying scratch offs, hoping for that big win. She loved to dance and get dressed up to attend parties; her hair and fingernails were always perfect.

She loved her family tremendously and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her seven siblings and their spouses: Wilma (Jake) Callara, Fannie (Jack) DiRose, Helen (Joseph) Salvatore, Sandy (Gregory) Monacelli, Joseph (Betty) Fortunato, Nino Fortunato, and Ross (Jean) Fortunato.

Elsie is survived by her son, Dale (Peggy) Barringer; daughter, Gail (Rick) Ebbs; grandchildren: Jasmine (Christopher) Mosele, Melissa Ebbs, Aaron Ebbs, Renee (Tim) Hemby; great-grandchildren: Chloe Mosele, Cheston Mosele; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

There will be no calling hours. The family is considering a memorial for family and friends in July to celebrate her life. Her family would like to acknowledge Marsha and John at the Villages of Orleans for their support while mom was a patient there; as well as Amanda and Shaniqua at Orchard for their great care and support as mom took her final breath.

Memorial contributions in Elsie’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to Golisano Children’s Hospital, 300 E. River Rd., P.O. Box 278996, Rochester, NY 14627.

Elsie’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. Albion, NY. To share a special memory of Elsie, please visit www.mitchellfamilyfuneralhomes.com
