Eldred Chet Wheelock

Eldred Guy “Chet” Wheelock, 88, of Kent, passed away on Feb. 13, 2019 at Brookdale Assisted Living Residence in Brockport, where he resided with his wife, Audrey, for the last three years. Chet was born Jan. 21, 1931 in Batavia to the late Chester and Vivian (Robbins) Wheelock.

Chet was a self-employed farmer for 34 years. He also worked for 10 years at the Orleans County Highway Department before retiring and becoming a snowbird for the next 19 years. He was an avid hunter, and he enjoyed golfing and playing shuffleboard. During his life, he served on the Carlton Zoning Board, the Milk Co-Op in Batavia, various other farm organizations, and was a charter member of the Kendall Lions Club.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Bertha and Irene.

Chet is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Audrey (McGee) Wheelock; children, Peggy (Joseph) Bropst of Kent, Marcia (Robert) Murphy of Kimbolton, Ohio, Ronald Wheelock of Kent, and Jill (Fabian) Strong of Hayward, Calif.; grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy) Mikels of Webster, N.Y., Adam (Kristin) Mikels of Westwood, Mass., Stacey Bell of Hayward, Andrew Wheelock of Kent, and Rebecca Wheelock of Greece, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Mason, Colton and Nora Mikels; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Sun., Feb. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Gaines-Carlton Community Church, 14585 Ridge Road, Albion NY 14411, where his funeral service will be held immediately following at 4 p.m. Interment will take place at Beechwood Cemetery in the spring.
