Edmund Joseph Lutz III

LYNDONVILLE – Edmund Joseph Lutz III, 89, of Lyndonville, NY, entered into eternity on Monday, March 28, 2022.

Ed was born in Buffalo, NY, on October 4, 1932, to Edmund J. (Jr.) and Estelle S. (Davis) Lutz. He grew up in Kenmore and Grand Island, NY, attended St. John the Baptist School, Canisius H.S., and graduated from Bishop Fallon H.S. in 1951. He earned a wide-array of college credits in engineering, computer aided design, computer programming and accounting from Erie Community College, Bryant & Stratton and Canisius College.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, and was also predeceased on March 14, 2022, by his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara A. (Gersitz) Lutz. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Helen Dinero and Sandra Scogin (Glynn), daughters Mary Edwards (Timothy), Clare Simon, Paula Simon (James) and son Edmund (Kim). Ed loved and prayed for his 25 grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer, Rachel, Richard, Jon, George, Andy, Leiana, Salem, Louis, James, Raphael, Genevieve, Mark, Lily, Christopher, Patrick, Gabriel, Veronica, Elijah, Regina, Sharbel, JohnPaul, Emily, Joshua, Matthew, and 25 great grandchildren. He also is survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ed was an engineer in Buffalo and worked for numerous companies for over 40 years.  His areas of expertise were machine and tool design, and he specialized in electrical-mechanical design and drawing.  He was an accomplished professional photographer for over 40 years.  Ed was an active member of the Engineering Society of Buffalo serving at various times as director, vice president and treasurer, and he really enjoyed taking the official photos for the Engineering Society sponsored annual 5K races.  

Ed was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima parish, Buffalo, for 43 years and of St. Joseph Church, Lyndonville, for the past 16 years. He was a life-long pro-life advocate, and enjoyed family time, bowling, golfing, rooting for the Bills and the Sabres, and praying his daily Rosary.

Ed’s Memorial Mass will be on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 10am, at St. Rose of Lima parish, 500 Parker Ave, Buffalo NY, 14216, with the prayer of the Holy Rosary beginning at 9:30am.
