Duane Everett Coon

American flagDuane Everett Coon, completed his service on earth for the Lord and was called home to Heaven on Oct. 30, 2021 at the Buffalo VA Medical Center in Buffalo.

Born Aug. 18, 1951 in Medina, he was a son of the late Wallace Sheldon Coon and Alice Lorraine (Waltz) Coon. Duane served from 1971-1975 as a Quarter Master in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Iwo Jima LPH2 and the Charles Hawkins DD873 Destroyer. While serving he was involved with missions to military.

Duane enjoyed woodworking, photography, camping, sign language, music, witnessing for the Lord, attending bible studies and helping others. He held various jobs in various employment throughout his life. He was a subcontractor, photographer, maintenance man, salesman and interpreter for the deaf. Duane’s last job was at the U.S. Immigrations at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo as a clerk.

On Aug. 18, 1983 Duane was united in marriage to Debra Ozimek, celebrating their 38th wedding anniversary this year. God blessed Duane with four children: twins, Joshua (Tara) Coon and Tiffany (Jason) Temple and Sheena (Duane) Bakos and Bethany Kimori. His pride and joy were his grandchildren: Aaron, Hailey, Trinity, Kevin, Landon and Ashton all of Florida and Nevaeh of Middleport, NY. Duane will forever be remembered by his siblings: Robert, Lucinda Egan, Shirley Raetz, Raymond and Alice (John) Tirtadjaja; sisters in-law: Lorina and Therese; brothers-in-law: Frank, Paul, Robert and Kenneth.

Duane was predeceased by his brothers: Roger and Douglas Coon; and sister, Carol (Joseph) Szalay.

Duane was a member of the Harvest Christian Fellowship in Albion, where he was an usher, greeter and an interpreter for the deaf. He also attended men’s bible study at Community Fellowship Church. Duane will always be remembered by his smile and laugh; wanting to serve others and lead them to Christ.

Family and friends may call on Fri., Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Harvest Christian Fellowship, 560 East Ave., Albion. His funeral service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. and burial with full military honors will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.
