American flagMEDINA – Douglas W. LeVan, 70, of Medina entered into rest on Friday, November 20, 2020, at the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He was born May 1, 1950 in Medina, a son of the late William F. and Dorothy A. (Schultz) LeVan.

He was a graduate of Medina High School, class of 1968. A Vietnam War Veteran, Doug served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1970. In 1976 he married the former Sharon Smith and together raised five children. Doug worked for Saint-Gobain in Albion for 28 years and retired in 2015. In his spare time he enjoyed doing puzzles, refinishing furniture, and watching for freighters at Golden Hill.

Doug was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sharon R. LeVan on April 24, 2020.

Survivors include his five children, Stephanie LeVan, Edward A. Weaver, Norman D. (Sharon James) Weaver, Laurie K. Weaver, and Renee S. Weaver; five grandchildren, Matthew Weaver, Norman (Melissa) Weaver, Jr., Brittany, Douglas and Wayne Parlier; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Ruth Weaver; siblings, Althea (Charles) Jurs, Nancy (late James) Bellamy, Cathy (late Donald) Kelsey, Kevin LeVan and Joanne Lonnon; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 25th, from 10 a.m. to noon at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory.

His graveside committal will immediately follow at West Ridgeway Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by members of Lincoln Post #1483, VFW and Butts-Clark Post #204, American Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
