Douglas A. Albone
Douglas A. Albone, 68, of Medina, entered into rest on Sun., Aug. 16, 2020 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital with his wife, Paulette, by his side. He was born Jan. 7, 1952 in Medina, a son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Fritz) Albone.
He was employed as a truck driver for 30-plus years and retired from Champion Moving & Storage in Brockport. His truck driving career gave him the opportunity to visit many states and family along the way. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Butt-Clark Post #204; and a social member of VFW, Lincoln Post #1483.
Doug was an avid card player, especially euchre, and he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. For many years, Doug was the team leader for the annual Diabetes Walk that was held in Batavia, where he and his team raised money for the American Diabetes Association. Fundraising and giving to others were things that Doug enjoyed. He loved fishing so much that he organized an annual fishing derby at Glenwood Lake in Medina. The proceeds each year were shared between Kendall and Medina food pantries. Doug started each year in January collecting prizes for the derby. At that time, he was still an over-the-road truck driver. At each stop that had any fishing gear, Doug was asking for a donation, and he was extremely successful. He continued this event until he could no longer organize it due to health reasons.
He is survived by his wife, Paulette M. (Davis) Albone of Medina; one daughter, Celeste (Michael) Cline; four sons, Christopher (Denise) Adams, Michael (Becky Houseman) Adams, James (Carrie Ann) Adams, and Nicholas (Veronica) Adams; six grandchildren, Alicia (Quinton), Sydney (Justin), Allissa, McKenna, Benjamin and Adelyn; four great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Kingston, Greycen and Vinnie; siblings, Patricia (Robert) Farman, Sandra (Wally) Ancker, Bruce (Cindy) Albone and Diana (Paul) Fulcomer; several nieces and nephews; and good friend, Rick Culver.
Beside his parents, Doug was predeceased by his sister, Linda Brownell; and his grandson, Trevor Adams.
There will be no calling hours. His memorial service will be held on Sat., Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. at Kendall United Methodist Church, 1808 Kendall Road, Kendall NY 14476. All those attending must wear masks and adhere to church gathering protocols.
