Dorothy E. Lane

MEDINA – Dorothy E. Lane, 86, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Rochester General Hospital. Born August 14, 1936 in Medina, she was the eldest of eleven children of Kenneth D. Lane and Eloise C. (Axtell) Lane.

Dorothy was raised at the family home in  East Shelby and attended the former one-room schoolhouse there. She lived all of her life in the area. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts and doing needle work. She also enjoyed cooking, feeding the birds, watching sunsets and going out to eat with loved ones, especially to Rudy’s Diner. Through the years, she loved participating in many activities through the ARC of Orleans. Dorothy was a kind and caring person and will be dearly missed by her loving family.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by an infant sister, Marilyn Lane in 1941; and siblings, Kenneth “Sunny” Lane, Nancy (Ted) Dunn and Ronald (Janet) Lane.

Left to cherish her memory are siblings, Doris (late Ernest) Dunn, Marian (George) Villard, Leslie “Mike” Lane, Donna Duranso, Gary Lane and Carl Lane; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at  Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina, where her funeral service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. Interment will be in Bates Road Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Arc GLOW at www.arcglow.org.
