Dixie Scouten

Dixie L. Scouten, of Barre, peacefully passed away at the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Batavia on Sept. 7, 2019 at age 70.

Born on Oct. 29, 1948, she graduated from Hilton High School, class of 1966. She lived her life as a caregiver and made an impact on many lives, beginning with raising a large family, being an aide, and then becoming a Registered Nurse at Medina Memorial Hospital for many years. Her talents were endless, as she mastered quilting, sewing, gardening, canning, painting, crafting, and anything she put her mind to.

Dixie was predeceased by her granddaughter, Elaina Dixie Webb.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Charles Scouten; and her children and stepchildren, Charles (Cathy) Scouten, Joyce Futch, Michelle (Greg) Putnam, Bernard (Karen) Jurs, Eric (Krista) Jurs, Joe (Nicole) Scouten, Ed (Colleen Cregg) Scouten, Shea Hill, Christopher (Becky) Scouten, and Beth (Kyle) Webb; and she was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Sat., Sept. 21 at 2 p.m. at The Cabaret at Studio B, 28B W. Bank St., Albion, followed by a gathering of friends and family from 2:30 to 5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Rochester & Finger Lakes Region, 435 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester NY 14620.
