Dennis SteffenAmerican flagDennis P. Steffen, 59, of Kendall, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 20, 2020 at Unity Hospital in Rochester. He was born June 17, 1960 in Brockport to Walter and Mariam (Swanger) Steffen.

Dennis was a 1978 graduate of Kendall Central School. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Reconnaissance Unit from 1978 to 1982. He then worked in law enforcement for the next 10 years before working on his own, doing landscaping and plowing. Dennis loved watching his kids play sports and always did everything around the house, minus the cooking. Grilling was the only cooking he did, with a Bud Light in his hand as well. He was a big jokester, always smiling, always happy, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Dennis spent countless hours helping the elderly with taking care of tasks around their houses, or even bringing a fish fry to them. He was a very caring and loving man to everyone who knew him.

Dennis was predeceased by his siblings, Debbie Steffen, Barbara Adolf and David Steffen.

Dennis is survived by the love of his life, Halia; his children, Brian (Jen) Steffen, Shelly (Ryan) Kehoe, Cody (Sara) Steffen, Jonathan (Brynn) Steffen, Autumn (Tomah) Steffen and Alayna Steffen; parents, Walter and Mariam (Swanger) Steffen; siblings, Danny, Doug (Rhonda), Patti (Taras) Salamanca, Dale (Kathy), Connie (Saul) Harrison and Susie (Ron) Kyle; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother-in-law, Olha Korobka; brother-in-law, Mike Korobka; grandmother, Pearl McMillan; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church, 1769 Kendall Road, Kendall NY 14476, on Sat., March 7 at 11 a.m., with military honors accorded after the service.
