David TuttleDavid W. Tuttle, 71, of Lockport, died Monday evening, Nov. 18, 2019, at his home after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 22, 1948 in Medina. His parents were the late Irene (Snowden) Tuttle and Walter R. Tuttle.

David grew up in Medina and graduated from Medina High School in 1966. He graduated from Clarkson University in Potsdam with a bachelor’s degree in management and industrial engineering. He also received his master’s degree from Clarkson. David worked for Fisher-Price in East Aurora as an engineer for several years.

His desire and interest in interacting with people led him to begin his insurance career. He started with Allstate Insurance 42 years ago, in the days when Allstate had a booth in the Sears store. He went on to own his own agency in Lockport and, over the years, he received numerous awards from Allstate, including 1 in 100, Top Agent, Honor Ring, and 17 times National Conference. He was also a mentor to many agents in the area as they started out.

David had a lifelong passion for automobiles and owned many unusual autos. He was at one time involved with the raising, breeding and showing of dogs and Arabian horses. David had a zest for life and liked nothing better than talking to people and entertaining them with a list of jokes.

David is survived by his loving wife, Linda Shepherd Tuttle of Lockport; daughter, Katherine Tuttle of Middleport; brother, James (Gwendolen) Tuttle of Medina; niece, Julie (Jon) Schwartz of Connecticut; nephew, Matt (Rhonda) Tuttle of Florida; two stepsons, Anthony Kelly and David Kelly, both of West Seneca; stepdaughter, Laura (Matt) Davison of Lockport; step-niece, Tara White of Medina; step-nephew, Devon (Jennifer) Albone of Medina; and two step-granddaughters, Jessica and Kelly Davison.

Relatives and friends may call on Fri., Nov. 22 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport NY 14094. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat., Nov. 23 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 6919 Transit Road, East Amherst NY 14051.
