Daryl L. Banazwski
Daryl L. Banazwski, 63, of Medina, entered into rest peacefully on Wed., Jan. 2, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
Daryl was born on April 29, 1955, the son of the late Walter J. and Ruth (Groff) Banazwski. He graduated from Medina High School in 1973, and he earned an associate degree in business management and business administration from Erie Community College in 1975. On June 11, 1977, Daryl married the love of his life, Paula, and together they had three children. He worked at Marine Midland Bank in downtown Buffalo, then went on to work at Harrison Radiator Division of GMC/Delphi in Lockport, where he worked for 30 years, 15 years in production and another 15 years as a skilled trade pipefitter, retiring on Jan. 1, 2007. After retiring from Delphi, Daryl worked for New York State Parks, Recreation and Historical Preservation as a maintenance employee at Lakeside Beach State Park until 2017. He was a member of Local Union UAW 686 and CSEA Local 110. Daryl was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Parish in Medina.
Daryl loved the Buffalo Bills, the Buffalo Sabres, NASCAR racing, the Boston Red Sox, and attending sporting events with his children when they were in high school. He was also involved with Boy Scout Troop 35 and Little League. Daryl enjoyed cooking on the grill, camping at Lakeside Beach State Park, going to Ransomville Speedway on Friday nights with his son, David, and hanging out with his two little grandchildren, Aidan and Logan. He cherished the time spent with family, especially around the holidays, with Christmas being his favorite, and birthday parties. He enjoyed going on trips out of state to see his son, Brian, and his family, going to his son’s wedding, and walking his daughter, Sarah, down the aisle and the reception, dancing and pictures afterwards.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Paula (Szczechowiak) Banazwski of Medina; children, LCDR Brian (Michelle) Banazwski, USN, of Norfolk, Va., David Banazwski of Medina, and Sarah (Robert) Harding of Auburn, N.Y.; two grandsons, Aidan Joseph and Logan William Banazwski; brothers, Jan (Joyce) Banazwski of Medina, and Terry (Marilyn) Banazwski of Lakeland, Fla.; mother-in-law, Mary Jane Szczechowiak of Medina; sisters-in-law, Linda (Tom) Calabrese, Sandra Stein and JoAnn Lewandowski; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. They are all the love of my life. I will miss them dearly.
