Dan Acchione, 94, of Greece, passed away suddenly on Sept. 6, 2019.

Dan was born in 1925 in Albion, a son of the late Dan and Sylvia (Monacelli) Acchione. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Bronze Star medal for heroic achievement in connection with operations against Japanese forces as a company radio operator on Okinawa Shima Ryukyus Islands in 1945. He also received a Purple Heart, having been wounded in action on June 10, 1945. Dan was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Rochester and the American Legion.

Dan was predeceased by several half brothers and sisters; and by his wife, Sue, in 1998.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carm; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. Dan’s Mass will be held Wed., Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 W. Ridge Road, Rochester. Entombment will follow with military honors at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
