Colleen T. Lewandowski, 74, of Medina, passed peacefully at Buffalo General Hospital on Thu., May 7, 2020.

Born on Dec. 24, 1945 in Medina, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Grace (Tracey) Tylec. Colleen attended Middleport High School and Niagara University, where she received her Registered Nursing degree, specializing in labor and delivering. She worked for 44 years at Medina Memorial Hospital. She assisted in delivering more than 6,000 babies.

Colleen was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Medina, and later of St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church in Middleport. She enjoyed reading, feeding wild birds, and gardening. With her birthday falling on Christmas Eve, Christmas was her favorite time of the year. Colleen mostly enjoyed spending time with her family, which she loved so much.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, William (Bill) Lewandowski; one daughter, Amy Niethe of Cape Vincent, N.Y.; two stepdaughters, Doreen (David) Wolff of Lancaster, Pa. and Kathleen (David) Allen of Winter Park, Fla.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia (Thomas) White of Middletown, Conn., Vincent (Cindy) Tylec of Middleport, and Mark (Gail) Tylec of Deland, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Colleen is predeceased by one daughter, Tracey Baker; and one sister, M. Pam Belfield.

There are no calling hours. A private committal service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Medina at the family’s convenience. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Colleen’s name to a charity of one’s choice that benefits veterans.
