Churlene “Cindy” Rogers Heinbach

MEDINA – Churlene ‘Cindy’ Rogers Heinbach, 87, passed away March 4, 2023 in Virginia Beach, VA. She was born in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late Dr. Fulton Arthur and E. Marie Hurd Rogers and grew up in Medina, NY on West Center Street.

After graduating from Cornell University with a degree in Early Childhood Development, she moved to and raised her family in Westfield, NJ. Cindy taught and eventually became the Director of Wesley Hall Nursey School in Westfield for nearly three decades. Upon her retirement she moved to Florida for the warm weather and had a passion for singing, traveling, teal-colored clothes and crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her late husbands Dr. J. Daniel Cox and SFC James Jay Heinbach; Katherine ‘Kay’ Pettit (sister), Paul Pettit, and Merle Fredericks (brothers-in-law).

Cindy is survived by her children Lord Eric Scott Heinbach and wife Krisan, Mark Rogers Heinbach and wife Claudia, Laura Heinbach; Nicki Fredericks (sister), and Fulton Arthur Rogers (brother); several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Medina Presbyterian Church later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) in her memory.
