Charles Dan Ricci

Charles “Dan” Ricci, 64, of Carlton, died Fri., Jan. 10, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Albion on Feb. 7, 1955, he was the son of Peter Dan and Merle (Kubica) Ricci.

Dan married Sarah Connor in 1973, and together they raised one son, Peter Ricci. Dan started his career operating heavy equipment before graduating high school, and he continued that line of work throughout his lifetime. With Sarah, he owned and operated Ricci Tire for many years. During that time, he won an award for his skill in towing by negotiating a tough course of tennis balls without disturbing a single one. He also owned and operated the Hojack Restaurant (located at the current Orleans Outdoor), and for almost 40 years and most recently Ricci Meadows Golf Club. Dan enjoyed extensive traveling, visiting old friends and making many new ones all over the United States.

Predeceased by his parents, Dan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sarah; his son, Peter (Diane) Ricci; his grandchildren and namesakes, Charles “Charlie” Dan Ricci and Danielle Ricci; a sister, Hollis (Gordon) Canham; a nephew, Andrew Canham; and a niece, Mikken Canham.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family in a celebration of Dan’s life on Sat., Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. at Roadies (formerly Ricci Meadows Clubhouse), Route 98, Carlton.
