Carrie Martino

Carrie Martino, 89, entered her Heavenly rest on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Medina Memorial Hospital.

Born on May 5, 1932, Carrie was the sixth child of Antonio and Tindara (Messina) Martino. She was a graduating member of the Medina High School class of 1950. She worked on the Martino farm until 1953 when she became employed at the G.C. Murphy Co., Main Street, Medina, NY. Carrie was a proud member of the G.C. Murphy staff and served as an energetic and dedicated clerk. Her employment began August, 1953, and concluded in April, 1997, when Murphy’s closed its business in Medina.

Carrie was a member of Holy Trinity R.C. Parish, St. Mary’s Church, Medina, where she found peace and inspiration while attending Mass.

Another activity Carrie enjoyed was traveling, especially to Florida to visit family.

Family was an important part of Carrie’s activities and involvement.  In addition to her parents, family members who predeceased Carrie were her brother, Santino (Jennie) Martino, Rose (Sam) Ferri, Mary (Andrew) Marello, Josephine (John) Brennan, and a sister Carrie who died in early childhood due to pneumonia.  Nieces and nephews who passed on prior to Carrie’s death were Marian Martino, Camille Ferri, Michael Ferri, Angela Ferri Schaal, Eileen Brennan McElwain.  A dedicated friend, Frances Ugorek, also predeceased Carrie.

Surviving family members are Anthony Martino, Carolyn (Harry) Edmiston, Russell Martino, Patricia Caleb and Mary (Paul) Woodruff; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; two dear friends close to Carrie are Jeanette Ugorek, and her brother John Ugorek.

SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sat., July 9 at 10 am at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St. Medina, NY 14103; or to a charity of one’s choice.
