Carol O’Mara

HOLLEY – Carol Ann O’Mara, age 80, passed away January 30, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 10, 1945, in Potsdam NY, a daughter of the late Winfred and Marion (McDonald) Gary and had lived in this area for most of her life.

Carol was a beautician and worked in her home in a salon that was built by her husband. She also worked for Fays, Eckerd and finally Rite-Aid, retiring after many years. She enjoyed collecting dolls, sewing, crocheting, working in her yard, especially her flower beds. Carol and her husband liked going for rides, flea markets and all their vacations they took across the country. Most importantly, Carol loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved grandmother Margaret McDonald and her brother Ronnie Gary.

Carol is survived by her husband of 61 years, John; her daughter, Kristie Duguay; her son, Shawn (Amy) O’Mara; grandchildren, Nicholas Maguire, Cheyenne (Robert) Maguire, Sierra Maguire, Ryan (Ronly) O’Mara and Ryley O’Mara; great-grandchildren, Crimson, Carson, Vivienne, Aluna, Kinsley and Nolan; great-niece, Stacey (Barney) Smith as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Per Carol’s wishes, there are no prior calling hours or services. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Orleans, 14080 NY-31, Albion NY 14411. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Holley.
