ALBION/ROCHESTER – Carol Gray Murphy passed away June 9, 2023. She was born in Rochester to the late Jack and Dorothy Baker. Carol was predeceased by her husband Patrick “Spud” Murphy and her sister Sandra Baker Eckhardt. Carol is survived by and will be constantly missed by her children Kimberly (Andy) Carroll, Todd (Sue) Gray, Tammy (Chris) Donnelly, Melissa (Dave) Alkins, her grandchildren Drew (Keely), Jack, Hannah, Trevor, Maddy (Jack), Rachel and Grayson, along with her brothers Don (Lori), Scott (Ruth) and many nieces and nephews.
Carol was a wonderful, loving, kind and hilarious mom, grandma, sibling and friend. She loved her kids and grandkids unconditionally and without limit. As much as she loved her family, they loved her more! She loved to entertain her family and friends and hosted huge family holiday parties. Her Thanksgiving dinners are legendary. She made an awesome apple pie and treated her family to her mom’s special cinnamon pie every year. Carol loved spending time with her family including shopping with her kids and grandkids, watching her Buffalo Bills with a huge crew at home or at the Elks, going to lunch with grandkids in Rochester, Denver, NYC and Glastonbury and watching her grandkids sporting and theater events. She loved her yard, her garden (especially her peonies), reading in the sun, socializing at the Elk’s Club and the Vets Club, eating dinner with friends at the Red Osier, fashion, going to the casino, and golfing in tournaments with her friends and family. She also loved selling cars at several dealerships in Albion. She enjoyed the relationships she made with each customer and was particularly happy when she sold cars to many generations in a family. Her customers and coworkers were a big part of her love for Albion.
There will be no calling hours or service as Carol wished for her passing to marked by her family privately. Her family asks that you remember Carol as she was, full of life and smiling. She had the best smile.
