Carol A. (Marsh) Mayer
HOLLEY – Carol A. (Marsh) Mayer, 79, passed away peacefully May 21, 2023. She was born March 23, 1944 in Rochester, NY, a daughter of the late Frederick and Virginia (Coffey) Marsh.
Carol graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1962 and after high school worked at Eastman Kodak Co.
Carol married William (Bill) Mayer in 1964. She was a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her children and then went to work for 30-plus years at the Orleans County Department of Social Services. Carol also worked at Orleans County Emergency Management.
Being community minded, Carol was a member and Treasurer for the Murray-Holley Historical Society, volunteered at St. Rocco’s Festival and the Hoag Library. Carol will also be remembered as an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Holley. Carol was an avid reader, loved the daily newspaper crossword, loved trivia and never missed Jeopardy.
Carol was predeceased by her husband, William D. Mayer; siblings, Robert (Maura) Marsh and Elizabeth (James) Pierce.
Carol is survived by her children, Barb (Ed) Snyder, Debra Mayer and Rich (Donna) Mayer; grandchildren, Andrew Krantz, Nick and Alec Mayer; siblings, Patricia (Charles) Donner, Catherine (John) Bovenzi; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Earl) Hinkson, Chris Mannara; brother-in-law Don (Jody) Mayer; several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, especially Art and Charlene Sielaff.
Carol’s family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home 16650 State Route 31, Holley on Tuesday, May 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s R.C. Church on Wednesday, May 31, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.
