Carlton PlummerOn Sun., Nov. 17, 2019, Carlton Plummer Sr., loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away. Carlton was born Nov. 2, 1938 in Medina to Howard and Marion Plummer.

He and his brothers, Lee and Gary, grew up in Lyndonville, where Carlton’s passion for raising animals and taking care of the land was realized. His life’s work was dairy farming, and he served his community as the Future Farmers of America State Treasurer and as a longstanding member of the Lyndonville School Board. Carlton imparted his work ethic, his honesty, and his humble love of nature to his 10 children.

Carlton enjoyed a hot cup of coffee and a peanut butter sandwich after coming in from morning milking. He loved watching his grandchildren play and holding babies on Kendrick Road. He could be found tilling the garden with his team of horses or bringing the cows in from pasture with his favorite dog, Mickey. Carlton spent his free time picking out the perfect chopping block for his wife, Mary, and he enjoyed hunting, reading the newspaper, solving crossword puzzles, and watching Westerns. He was a kind, genuine, patient and generous man who will be missed greatly by everyone he knew.

Carlton is preceded in death by his father, Howard; mother, Marion; and brother, Gary.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Mary Dooley; brother, Lee (Val, Penny, Laurie); children, Carlton Jr. (Roxanne, Dylan and Evan), Courtney (Lisa, Jasmine, Joselyn), Jeffrey (Michelle, Michael, Nikki, Ryan), Todd (John, Chase), Russell (Alex and Peyton), Randall (Paige, Bailey, Shelby), Megan (William, Kendyll, Leigha), Ingrid, Martin (Jenna, Aubrey, Sylvia, Everett), and Gabriel (Jenna, Sylas, Mable, Eliza, Betty).

The family will be hosting a memorial service and celebration of his life at the Ridgeway Fire Hall at 3 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 23. This event is to celebrate the life of a farmer, and as such the family requests that friends and family dress comfortably to honor him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Orleans County Cooperative Extension 4-H Program, 12690 NY-31, Albion NY 14411.

Arrangements were entrusted to Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina NY 14103. Please light a candle or share a memory of Carlton at www.boganandtuttlefunerals.com.
