Betty Mallaber Miller
MIDDLEPORT- Betty Mallaber Miller, a native of Middleport, NY and a resident of Daphne, AL, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023, at the age of 91.
Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family. She graduated from Roy Hart in 1950. She worked as secretary at the Middleport United Methodist Church, Lobee Pump in Gasport, and for the Medina newspaper for a few years when her children were in high school. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles and spending time with her family. She loved the color lavender as well as beautiful flowers and enjoyed working in her garden before moving from New York. She always enjoyed a good dessert, especially ice cream. She loved to sing “You are my sunshine” to her grandchildren when they were young and continued this
Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Walter “Bud” Miller; her parents, Barton and Bertha Mallaber; and siblings, Rosemary Gilbert, Clayton Mallaber, Barbara Allen and Shirley Monthony.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Rhoades Stewart and Gary Walter Miller, both of Daphne, AL; her grandchildren, Jennifer Rhoades Byrd (Shelby), Glenn Martin Ryan Rhoades, IV (Jeanne) and Holly Rhoades Johnson (Joby); great-grandchildren, Emily Serena Byrd, Glenn Martin Cody Rhoades, V, Collin A. Jerkins (Rosemary), Sydnee Madelyn Jerkins and Gave Phillip Jerkins; and great-great-grandchildren, Lucas James Jerkins and Hazel Janelle Crenshaw; along with many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will take place at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 4PM. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation before the service at 3PM.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff at Seabrook Pointe Assisted Living and Springhill Hospice for their loving care and compassion in her final days.
