Betty Jane Scobell
Betty Jane “BJ” Scobell, 97, of Kendall, died April 2, 2020 at the Edna Tina Wilson Living Center. She was born April 5, 1922 in Rochester, a daughter of the late Martin and Veronica Burylski, and she lived in this area all of her life.
BJ was a very social and family-oriented person. She loved children and was so fond of her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed golfing with her sisters and friends and watching her gardens grow. She was a loyal New York Yankees fan, and she loved to drive fast. She worked at the Trimble Company and, for many years, at the Brockport YMCA as a bookkeeper.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Gordon Scobell; her sisters, Alfreda, Ceil, Lucille and Jean; and her brother, Scotty.
BJ is survived by her sister, Arlene; stepson, Daniel (Kathy) Scobell; stepdaughter, Debbi Otto; step-grandchildren, Ryan and Deigh; niece, Veronica Walker; nephews, Douglas Mocny, Pete Burila, Jerry Decker and Ray Webb; as well as several other nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
There will be no calling hours. Her memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Route 31, Holley. Burial will be in Old Pittsford Cemetery.
