Betsy (Brooks) Proud suddenly and unexpectedly entered the loving arms of her savior March 5, 2023. She was born October 10, 1946, in Angelica NY.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eldyn and Orpha Brooks, and her in-laws, William and Hazel Proud.

Betsy is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, William (Bill); sons and daughters-in-law, Alan (Lynn), and Mike (Melanie) Proud; grandchildren, Anthony (Jessica) Jett, Joey, Nikol, Jessaca, Jacob, Joshua, Katelyn, and Mason Proud; great-grandchildren, Isabelle, and Riley Jett; sisters, Evelyn Koons and Sandra Demick; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends who are like family.

Betsy was always known for her smile and laugh; she loved to have fun and had a great sense of humor. She was also known for her baking, especially her apple dumplings and lots and lots of cookies. She loved to read and play Words with Friends and sit in the sun and talk with friends.

Betsy had many different jobs and kept herself busy over the years, like making thousands of jars of jams and jellies for Hurd Orchards, Mulkin Chevrolet as a greeter, a cafeteria worker for Holley Central School, a greeter, cashier, and sales floor associate at Wal-Mart, a teacher’s aide in the Brockport Central School District, and at Robb Farms in the market.

She enjoyed working, but mostly she enjoyed interacting and making connections with others. Betsy was a Sunday school teacher for many years, and then a youth leader.  She loved all of her “kids”, and she became a second mom to many.

There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Brockport Free Methodist Church, 6787 4th Section Rd, Brockport, NY 14420.
