ALBION – Benjamin Curtis Jones Sr. was born in Americus, GA on May 14, 1938, to the late Ella Mae and John Jones. Ben was the last surviving, middle child amongst five other siblings. Ben went home to be with the Lord on July 1, 2024.

Benjamin “Deacon Jones” moved to NY in 1960, where he married his late wife, Geneva. They had three sons, the late Charles, Joel, and Ben Jr.(Lynn). Ben really found a place to build a family and a respectable name for himself. He worked for 35 years at Kodak where he retired.

He was a Deacon of St. Paul Baptist Church in Albion since 1971. He remained faithfully until he was called home. He became an active role model in his community and had a positive impact on those he encountered. Ben was also an activist in the community visiting and caring for the sick and shut in. He also took pride and joy in his grandchildren, Marcus (Trisha), Donnell, Pamela, Jennifer (Bella), Christopher, Crystal, and Anyas. He felt even more joy in his great-grandchildren, Makayla, Makiya, Emma Rae, Llyanna, Amiya, Lukas, Clarity, Balance, Mae, and Tessa.

Ben leaves his loving wife, Hazel; their joined children, Sylvia, Ricky, Michelle, Patricia, and Octavia; their joined grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 29 E. State St. Albion, NY 14411, where a funeral service will be held at 12 noon with the Rev. T.C. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Albion Cemetery.
