Audrey Catherine (Fields) Lamb

Audrey Catherine (Fields) Lamb of Leland, N.C., died unexpectedly on Sat., Oct. 3, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. She was born on May 18, 1934 in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to Carl and Mildred Fields.

The oldest of five children, she grew up in Millville where her parents owned and operated the Fields’ Millville Grocery. Audrey attended Medina High School and later studied cosmetology. She operated her own beauty shop inside the Lamb family home on Jackson Street in Middleport.

Audrey worked as an administrative assistant at Townsend Insurance in Middleport, N.Y., at the credit union and later at FMC. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Stephen’s Parish in Middleport and Basilica Shrine of St. Mary’s in Wilmington, N.C.

She loved to sing and performed in a number of plays through community theatre including South Pacific, Music Man, Auntie Mame, Bells are Ringing, Oklahoma!, Carousel!, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music and The Haunting of Hill House. She was also a member of Sweet Adelines and a Cub Scout Den mother. After moving to N.C., she joined The Harmony Belles, volunteered at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and enjoyed playing Mahjong with her friends and neighbors.

Audrey was preceded in death by her brother Carl Fields. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Donald Sr.; sons: Donald Jr. (Lisa), David (Ginger), Dean (Sharon) and Douglas (Deana); grandchildren: Lindsay (Christopher) Faircloth, Leslie Lamb (Justin Weeks), Kimberly (Tanner) Kelly, Amanda Lamb, Ryan (Kellsie) Lamb, Dillon (Anna Kathryn) Lamb and Michaela (Garrett) Brooks along with six great-grandchildren: Knox, Alexander, Lucy, Audrey Kathryn, Rowan, Remy and a baby girl expected in November. She is also survived by her siblings: Carol (Alfred) Beato, Betty (Robert) Jackson and Paul (Elaine) Fields along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was sister-in-law to Dorothy (Ken) Bishop and preceded in death by: William (Lena) Lamb, Robert (Kilt) Lamb, Junior (Joyce) Lamb, Clarence (Lib) Lamb, Franklin (Edna) Lamb and Elizabeth Foss.

A private family service was held at Andrew’s Mortuary in Wilmington on Oct. 6, 2020. Family and friends are invited to attend a burial service at Ingold Cemetery in Ingold, N.C. at 2 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are requested to the charity of your choice.
