Arlene SnyderArlene R. Snyder, 85, of the Town of Alabama and recently of Applegate Manor in Medina, passed away peacefully on Jan. 11, 2019. She was born April 18, 1933 in Alabama to the late Raymond and Bessie (Newton) Smith and would remain in the area her entire life.

Arlene was a longtime member of Alabama-Basom United Methodist Church and was also influential in quilting prayer shawls for community members in need of prayers. She was also a founding member of the Alabama Jolly Seniors. Arlene worked for many years as Office Manager of Peterson Drug Stores, and in her spare time she enjoyed gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leland Snyder in 2004; and sister, Dolores Dennis.

Arlene is survived by her children, Gary (Donna) Snyder and Brenda (Mark) Sherwood; granddaughter, Melissa Snyder; brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Janice Snyder; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport NY 14105, on Thu., Jan. 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. Arlene’s funeral service will be held at Middleport United Methodist Church, 9 Park Ave., on Fri., Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. Interment in Alabama Cemetery will be held at a later date.
