Arlene M. Bokman

Arlene M. Bokman, 84, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of March 15, 2022, surrounded by loving family and friends.

Arlene was born on June 1, 1937, in Albion, NY to Samuel and Josephine (Abbondonza) Giarrizzo. On May 9, 1956, Arlene married her high school sweetheart, Clement (Butch) Bokman. Arlene and Butch were married for 64 years, until his passing in 2020.

Arlene was a member of the 1955 graduating class of Albion Central School.  She was most proud of being a loving wife and mother.  After raising her five children, Arlene proceeded to assist her husband in the daily functions of their automobile agency in Lockport, NY.

Upon retirement, the couple was able to pursue one of their true joys of operating Bokman Kennel’s while breeding and raising Golden Retrievers.  Arlene always looked forward to receiving Christmas cards from the families that had adopted puppies from their kennel.  She proudly displayed all the pictures that the adopted families sent her.  She was a true lover of animals.

Arlene lived for many years in Lockport, NY. In 2017, she moved to Allegany, NY to be closer to her family.

Arlene is survived by her sons: Rick (Kathy) Bokman, Scott (Patti) Bokman and Mark (Susan) Bokman; brother, Charles (Bev) Giarrizzo; grandchildren: Mike (Brittney) Bokman, Christa (Dan) Hunt, Nicki (Ryan) Williams, Ryan Bokman and Mathew Bokman; great-grandchildren: Maxim Bokman, Eli Hunt and Emma Hunt; many beloved nieces and nephews and friends.

Arlene was predeceased by her husband, Clement (Butch) Bokman; daughters: Julie Bokman and Dr. Susan Bokman Leitzan; siblings: Sandra Ohs, Virginia DeFillips and Joseph Giarrizzo.

Services will be held privately. Burial will be at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Albion, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made online to the Alzheimer’s Association; or at 225 N. Michigan Ave.; Fl. 17; Chicago, IL  60601.
