Anna A. Bensley

Anna A. Bensley, 96, of Medina entered into rest peacefully on Dec. 14, 2020 at the Martin-Linsin Hospice Residence in Albion. Born Nov. 12, 1924 in Middleport, she was a daughter of the late Julius and Rose (Kontos) Wasvary.

She was a longtime parishioner of Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church in Medina. She was known to be a quiet and humble person. Anna loved taking her children on local field trips and adventures, like seeing Santa at Christmas Park. She was a frequent visitor to the library, bringing her children to read and experience the world. Anna loved music, was an avid reader, a wonderful gardener and enjoyed taking care of her various animals. Her love of nature took her down the Erie Canal for walks with the family dog. She was a dessert enthusiast, never turning down sweets and was known to enjoy a taste of chocolate daily.

Predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Bensley in 2001; beloved brothers and sisters-in-law: Walter, Gerald, Raymond, Donald, Phyllis and Mary; her cherished siblings: William Wasvary, Lillian (Robert) Hayden and Mary Ellen (Robert) Spaulding.

Survivors include her children, Paula (John Borello) Bensley and James Bensley; granddaughter, Brooke Bensley; sisters in-law: Lucille Hotchkiss and Rita Barry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside committal service will be held Thu., Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at Supportive Care of Orleans. Additional appreciation to her prior at-home aides Gail Eichler and Dorothy Adams.
