Alida S. Watkins
Alida S. “Sig” Watkins passed away on Tue., Nov. 26, 2019 in Las Vegas, Nev. at the age of 93.
Born June 10, 1926 in the Town of Barre, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Dunn) Hale. Alida worked at the Apple Grove Inn in Medina for many years, first as a waitress starting in 1952, and eventually becoming manager in the early 1960s. In 1974, she left and opened the Half Moon Inn in Ridgeway. She retired in 1980. Alida married Lloyd J. Watkins in 1981, and together they moved to Mesa, Ariz. She was residing in Henderson, Nev. until her passing. Alida was a hardworking and loving mother of four who will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, in 1993.
She is survived by her four children: daughters, Bonnie Coffey of Kentucky, Carlyle Scholes of Medina, and Connie Griffie of Nevada; and son, Bert (Maxine) VanAuker of Middleport; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thu., Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Burial will be in Cold Springs Cemetery in Lockport.
