Patricia A Cichocki

WATERPORT – Patricia A Cichocki, 76, of Waterport, NY passed peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. Born August 11, 1946 in Uniontown, PA, Pat was the daughter of Bertha (Marks) and Frank Sillett, Sr.

Pat had a passion for her family and friends. Always a gracious hostess to one and all.  She enjoyed taking care of her house and her husband, traveling, playing card and computer games and over all enjoyed life. Her genuine, warm smile and hugs will be greatly missed.

Predeceased by her brothers, Frank Sillett, Jr. and Tom Sillett; and her son, John Waldriff, Jr.

Pat is survived by her husband of 42 years, Richard Cichocki, Jr.; sister, Linda (Leo) Casey; sister-in-law Carol Sillett; son, David (Lisa Weller) Waldriff; daughter-in-law, Angela Waldriff; grandchildren, Martina, Tyler and Tanner Waldriff; along with several nieces and nephews. Pat’s Cichocki in-law family include, Richard Cichocki, Sr., Lisa Cichocki, Charlene Walsh, Randall Cichocki and Reginald Cichocki; special close friends include Sharon Breckenridge, Cindy Egan, along with many friends at the Country Club Restaurant in Medina where Pat worked for many years before her retirement.

An hour of calling will be held on Friday, Nov. 4 from 10-11am, followed by a memorial service at 11am at the Oak Orchard Assembly of God Church, 12111 Ridge Rd., Medina. The Reverend Daniel Thurber will officiate. A luncheon gathering will follow. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Cichocki family plot in Bates Road Cemetery.

Adeline S. Millis

CARLTON – Adeline S. Millis age 97 passed away October 24, 2022 at the Martin Linsin Residence.  She was born May 16, 1925 in Albion, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Kowal) Mack and had lived in this area all of her life. 

Adeline was a member of the Gaines Carlton Community Church.  She worked and retired from General Electric after many years.  She enjoyed baking, gardening and flowers. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband George; her son David; sister Mary Rowan; brothers Frank Mack, Walter Mack, Joe Mack. 

She is survived by her daughters Linda (Ken) Haley; Paula Brooks; her son Dr. Darryl (Linda) Millis; daughter-in-law Joan Millis; grandchildren Julie (Jay) Mersdorf, Karen (Gary) Barber, Brian (Diane) Millis, Christopher (Chantal) Millis, Nicholas (Caitlin) Millis; 9 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

There are no prior calling hours.  Her Memorial Service will be held at the White Birch Golf Course, 1515 N. Lyndonville Rd., Lyndonville NY 14098 on Saturday November 26th at 12:00pm.  Burial will be in Mt. Howard “Howie” Moranz

HOLLEY – Howard “Howie” Moranz, passed away October 23, 2022, at the age of 90.

He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, RoseMarie, and by his son-in-law Richard Pakozdi.

Howie is survived by his daughters, Barbara (John) Girvin, Connie Pakozdi, Jeanie (Doug) Brown; grandchildren Angela Girvin, Sheri Girvin, Jennie (Michael) Cancelmi, Jackie (Mark) Iwasko, Garrick (Kristan) Brown, Maria (Joseph) McCracken; 10 great grandchildren and many dear friends.

Howie’s funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday October 28, at St. Mary’s Church, 9 South Main St., Holley NY, 14470 with one hour visitation beginning at 9:30am at the church. Interment will be held privately at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.

Linda Ann “Frema” Furness

ALBION – Linda Ann “Frema” Furness, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 22, 2022.

She was born April 15, 1941 to Marion G. (Fieritz) and Edward L. Fisher.  Linda worked as a secretary at the Albion Correctional Facility and retired in 1996 after 38 years of service. She valued every individual friendship she made there over the years.

Linda was a loving and compassionate person, who always wore a beautiful smile and enjoyed each day she was given on this earth. Her love, passion, and devotion were a testament to those she encountered.  Linda was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who adored her family and enjoyed every cherished moment spent with them, as well as the family pets. Her friends always held a special place in her heart as well.

Linda was predeceased by her parents and brother, Norman Fisher.

Linda is survived by her loving daughters, Bonnie Eaton and Susan Thomas; grandchildren, Alisha (Jason) Schwarzott and Jonathan Thomas; great-grand children, Emma (James) Fuller and Andrew Schwarzott. In addition, her nieces and nephews and extended family, David Thiessen, Michael Janus, and Aaron Thomas.

She will be sorely missed by all, but the legacy of love she has shared will live on forever in our hearts.

The family will be holding a private ceremony for immediate family. Richard T. Peruzzini

CARLTON – Richard T. Peruzzini age 89, passed away October 21, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.  He was born June 10, 1933 in Albion, a son of the late Delmazio “Tom” and Mary Peruzzini and had lived in this area most of his life. 

Richard’s greatest joys were mowing his 8 acres of lawn, planting flowers and running his dairy farm he had for many, many years.  After farming he went to work at Ontario Foods and then at Brunner’s in Medina where he retired.  Richard was also a life-long Buffalo Bills fan. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Alice; children Gary, Barbara, Larry, Bob; sister Jane Peruzzini; brother Harold Peruzzini. 

Richard is survived by his children Margaret (Charles) Swan, Janet (Don) McClary, David Peruzzini, Kim (Douglas) Mergler; companion of many years Ruth Wells; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren’ sisters Judy (Jim), Sandy, Sue as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.   

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. Friday October 28th 4:00pm-7:00pm.  His Memorial Service will be held Saturday October 29th at 2:00pm at East Shelby Community Bible Church, 5278 E. Wade J. Muscarella

ALBION – Wade J. Muscarella, age 68, died in his home October 23, 2022.  He was born August 18, 1954 in Brockport to Joseph and Ida (Tiberio) Muscarella and had lived in this area most of his life. 

Wade was a former employee of Lyndonville Vinegar Company, AmTrak Train Services, and following those two careers was a Handyman for many years.  He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing and loved music. 

He is survived by his children: Ashley Hougle of Medina, Joseph Muscarella of Lyndonville, his brother: Neal Muscarella of Albion, his sister: Jodie Merrill of FL, as well as his 2 grandchildren: Reis and Mari. 

Family and friends are invited to attend a time sharing and remembrance on Saturday Oct. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Marti’s on Main, 20 S. Zell Jackson

KNOWLESVILLE – Zell Jackson, 94, of Knowlesville entered into rest peacefully with family by her side on Friday, October 21, 2022 at the Orchard Manor Rehab & Nursing Center. Born March 15, 1928 in Knuckles, West Virginia, Mrs. Jackson was a daughter of the late William W. and Gladys (Butler) Dunaway.

She married Herman Jackson and together moved to New York, eventually settled in Knowlesville. Mrs. Jackson was widowed at a young age, left to raise a family of 12 children. She worked for many years at Owens Illinois in Brockport and then went to work for the Newell Shirt Factory in Medina. A strong woman, Zell was a loving mother and grandmother to many. She will be missed dearly by those that knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her seven children, Benita Halbrook of FL, Mary Lou Hinmann of GA, Delbert Jackson, William Jackson both of Knowlesville, Orville Jackson, Ralph Jackson both of GA and Darlene Withey of Medina; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Eula Rose Jones of NC; and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband, Herman; five children, Clarence Jackson, Vicky Morrison, Loise Dent, Eugene Jackson and Naaman Jackson; and several siblings.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Fern E. Reed

GASPORT – Fern E. Reed, 98, of Gasport, New York went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 14, 2022. She was born to Sarah (Roeder) and Edwin Krammes on September 9, 1924.

Fern was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, J. Merrill Reed; her infant son, David; her adult son, James Reed; and her son-in-law, Dennis Reinard.

She is survived by her children, Joseph (Sandra) Reed, Sally (Richard) Martin, Jane Reinard and Tina (Douglas) Burdick. Fern was blessed with nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Fern grew up in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania where she attended primary and high school. She received her cosmetology license and worked as a beautician in her sister’s beauty salon. Fern was a homemaker and cared for her children as they grew. Later, Fern was employed by Medina Memorial Hospital and retired from the dietary department. Fern and her husband Jim worked on Tri-town ambulance for more than ten years. After retiring from Medina Memorial Hospital, she later returned as a volunteer, a position she held until the pandemic.

Fern had many hobbies including singing, gardening, sewing, making crafts and quilting. Square dancing was a fun activity she enjoyed with her husband for many years. Fern was a member of the Hartland Senior Citizens, the Hartland Historical Society, and the church choir. She liked doing word searches, cryptograms and was an avid reader.

A memorial service will be held in Fern’s honor at Faith United Methodist Church in Barker, New York on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. A light reception will follow. Scattering of her ashes will be done at the convenience of the family.

Janet D. Halliday

WEBSTER/HOLLEY – Janet D. Halliday, 81, entered into rest surrounded by her loving family on October 17, 2022.  She was born in Dundee, Scotland, UK to the late Albert and Christina Liddell on February 17, 1941.

Janet was predeceased by her husband, John, whom she’d shared 59 years of marriage with.

Janet loved to knit, go shopping, solve puzzles, and spend time reading. Her favorite thing to do, though, was spend time with family. Janet and John both worked as greeters at St. Mary’s Church in Holley during their lives together, getting to know the community and making lasting friendships.

Janet is survived by her daughters, June (Robert) Berger and Janette (Chris) Andrews; sister, Doreen Mackay; as well as 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 20, at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 16650 State Rte. 31 Holley from 4 to 7 p.m. Her Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Holley on Friday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m.

Edward J. Wojtkowski Jr.

GASPORT – Edward J. Wojtkowski Jr., 82, died unexpectedly October 18, 2022 in Eastern Niagara Hospital. He was born February 24, 1940 in Lockport to Edward and Lou Wojtkowski Sr., and was a life-long resident of this area.

In addition to having worked and retired from Harrison Radiator as a tool and die maker, Ed was the owner of Gasport Welding and Fabricating, Inc. He was a member of the Gasport Lions, the Lockport Lodge #41 BPOE, and enjoyed travelling the world, having visited Peru, Germany, Korea and Africa.

Ed enjoyed visiting with his many friends at the Sunrise Café and was a person who relished the chance to talk to anyone about anything. His pride and joy however was his family business, Gasport Welding Company.

Mr. Wojtkowski was predeceased by his wife Beverly.

He is survived by his children, Cassandra (Mike) Burgess of MA, Terri (Ray) Bedford of Lockport, Julie (Randy) Eddy of SC, Christine (Mark) Pittler of Gasport and Jeff (Caroline) Wojtkowski of VA; foster brother, Lee (Debbie) Walker of Middleport; his brother, Richard Wojtkowski of Gasport; his sister, Darlin (Doug) Sandstead of CO; 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St. in Gasport, on Monday, Oct. 24, from 12 to 2 p.m. A graveside service will begin at 2:30 p.m. in Orangeport Cemetery following visitation.

Sally Harrison

LYNDONVILLE – Sally Harrison of Lyndonville, NY, wife of the late Roger P. Harrison entered into rest on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, at home. She was born in Somerset, NY, on Dec. 25, 1933, daughter of the late Alfred Higgs and Anna Pitcher Higgs.

Sally retired from Barker Central School as a secretary. She loved her family and enjoyed reading, playing cards, going to the casino, traveling, crocheting, puzzles and watching the Buffalo Bills. She was a member of Johnson Creek, Barker Seniors and County Line Country Church.

She was the mother of Bev Seib, Sue (Doug) Capell, Kathy (Mark) Singer, Peggy Heiligenthaler (the late Scott Heiligenthaler), David Harrison, Daniel Harrison and the late Rick Harrison.

She was the grandmother of Dan (Kari) Heidemann, Lisa (Chris) Striemer, Gina (Sean) Moore, Matthew (Julianna Kiley) Capell, Maggie Capell, Kasie (Alex Mulroy) Entz, Nicole Entz, Brad (Logan) McMurray, Drew (Jenna) McMurray and Emma Rose.

She was the sister of Joyce Robinson, Donna Barber and Jane Girard, the late Caryl Poyfair, Alfred Higgs, Harold Higgs, Alice Hoste and Earl Higgs.

She also is survived by special friends, Bill and Rosie Brown, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Oct. 21, with a service at 3 p.m. followed by an informal gathering and sharing until 5 p.m. at the Spruce & Sparrow Event Center, 2437 Johnson Creek Road, Middleport, NY 14105.

Joann T. D’Andrea

HOLLEY – Joann T. D’Andrea, 90, passed away October 18, 2022 at the Sunset House with her loving son David and grandson Nathan at her side.  She was born October 4, 1932, in Albion, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Gurzynski) Rice and had lived in this area all her life.

Joann was a member of St. Mary’s Church. She was an avid reader and loved being with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Donald; sisters Lorraine Boccacio and Patricia Sargent; and brothers John and Leonard Rice.

She is survived by her sons James (Cheri Shaw) D’Andrea and David D’Andrea; grandsons Nathan, Corey and Carey D’Andrea; granddaughter Princess D’Andrea; sister Virginia DeFilipps as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There are no prior calling hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary’s Church in Holley on Saturday Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. David P. Mogle

CLARENDON – David P. Mogle, 81, passed away peacefully October 17, 2022, at Strong Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. David was born October 5, 1941, in Olean, NY, a son of the late Paul and Helen (Miller) Mogle.

Mr. Mogle was a former police officer with the Holley Police Department and a former employee of Eastman Kodak Co. David enjoyed being outside and mowing his lawn.

He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine.

Mr. Mogle is survived by his children, David (Karen) Mogle, Tina (Steve) Baase and Lisa Mogle; grandchildren, Dr. Jacqueline (Josh Feldman) Mogle, John (Sarah) Mogle, David (Amber) Mogle, Daniel (Erica) Baase, Derek (Melissa) Chevalier and Nicole Chevalier; and several great-grandchildren.

Richard Thomas Vacca

Richard (Dick) Thomas Vacca, 80, was born in Albion, New York and passed away August 24, 2022 after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Evelyn (Beau) Vacca. They lived in Hedgesville, West Virginia for almost two decades.

Richard was proud of his accomplishments as an Eagle Scout and his service as an altar boy at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Albion, NY. He graduated from Albion High School in 1960. Richard was the first in his family to attend college, and he graduated from Hamilton College in 1964. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in Officer Candidate School in the Navy, serving in Naples, Italy on a destroyer as a Petty Cash Officer. This experience laid the groundwork for a career in financial products and services.

Richard utilized his head for numbers and his engaging nature as a salesman of insurance products and again during his second career selling antiques and collectibles. He became an expert in antique teddy bears, inkwells and fountain pens. Dick was known for his wit, charisma and storytelling.

He enjoyed traveling the East Coast and Midwest educating people about the evolution of writing instruments and the history of the pieces in his collection. He loved chatting with like-minded antiquers and lovers of his trade. When Dick was not tinkering at his work bench, he was assuredly working in his garden. He was a master gardener for decades, raising fruits and vegetables and things of beauty which adorned his home and property. His passion for gardening provided an excellent outlet for his engineering side as he created growing systems and structures. He was always reading and learning and trying to work smarter, not harder.

He leaves behind his children Lisa (Steve) Strausbaugh of Concord, Ohio, Deborah (Hugh) O’Brien also of Concord, Ohio, Mark (Heidi) Vacca of Canton, Michigan as well as his grandchildren, Callahan, Duncan, Taylor, Sara, Christian, Rachael, Jackson and Emma.

Richard was proud of his family members’ accomplishments and their pursuit of higher education.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Larry Vacca.

A private service will be scheduled at a later date at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Albion.

Edison Walter Arpag

WEST HENRIETTA – Edison Walter Arpag, beautiful baby boy of Jason and Justine (Fancher) Arpag, left this world before he was able to bring even more love and joy to his family on October 11, 2022.

Edison joins his grandfather, Edward Fancher, in heaven.

He is survived by his parents; three brothers, Greyson, Harrison and Carson; maternal grandmother, Christine Fancher; paternal grandparents, Mark and Cheryl Arpag; great-grandparents, Walter and Gina (Sacco) Boothby; aunts, Janelle (Miles Walton) Fancher and Amy Arpag; uncles, Kyle (Calysta Cumbo) Fancher and Justin Arpag; as well as numerous other relatives and friends who love Edison very much.

The family would like to thank the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff at URMC for the exceptional and extremely compassionate care provided. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Josh Mitchell and the staff of the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home for their unwavering support. The family also greatly appreciates all of the prayers and concerns extended to them during this time of unimaginable grief.

Tommie Brown

MEDINA – Tommie “Bird Chest” Brown, 82, of Medina, NY, went to with the Lord on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at the Orchard Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Tommie was born on September 9, 1940 in Miami, FL and lived in Philadelphia and lastly moved to Medina in 2009. He married the late and former Diane Holloway. Tommie was employed with Burley Construction in Lockport and in his spare time enjoyed fishing, listening to music, solving crossword puzzles and drawing.

Tommie is survived by his children, Leslie (Jay) Buzard of Medina, Daniel (Jante) Brown of Arizona, and Tommie (Brandi) Brown of Lockport; two step-daughters, Olivia Crossley and Devorah Cunningham, both of Medina; grandchildren, Cynimyn and Nikki Buzard and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Simon Fox

MEDINA – Simon P Fox, 20, of Medina has left us to go hunt the fields of Heaven.

He was an avid hunter and outdoorsmen. His passion for hunting and fishing was unmatched. He had a big heart and was loved by his family, friends, and hunting buddies. He always had a story to tell. He will be missed dearly.

He is survived his parents, Michael Fox and Betsy Schoolcraft Fox; his brother, Ryan Fox of Medina; maternal grandfather, Michael David Schoolcraft of Medina; paternal grandparents, William and Donna Fox of Lyndonville, Sue Palone of Prescott, AZ and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.

The family will be hosting a luncheon on Thursday, October 20, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Medina Conservation Club, 3748 Bates Rd. Medina, NY 14103. After the luncheon, relatives and friends may call at the Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY 14103, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be private for the family.

Maryann Fearby

MEDINA – Maryann “Grand Mo” Fearby, 73, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2022. She was born July 1, 1949 in Medina, NY to the late Frank and Dorothy (Burke) Mazur.

Maryann was an avid shopper, spending hours at stores. She loved the color purple, purple flowers, learning how to knit and cooking enough food to feed an army. Maryann was loved by everyone and would do anything she could to help anyone in need. She worked for many years for the Iroquois Job Corps and most recently for CATS, driving bus. Pets were very important to Maryann and she had a very loving heart. She was also a very honest woman, but she loved her family and friends very much.

Maryann is survived by her husband of 30 years, John; daughters, Holly (Brian) Koch and Donna (Randy) Hildebrand; grandchildren, Jeremy, Caitlyn, Cassidy, Alexis and Garrett; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Logan and Wesley; sister, Judy (Alfred) Preston; niece, Catherine (Erich) Marzolf; nephew, Scott (Marcia) Preston; great-niece and great-nephew, Fiona and Jackson; countless friends including special friends, Dean and Sharon Broker.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home 21 West Ave. Albion, NY 14411 on Wednesday, October 19th from 4 to 7 p.m. Services and interment will be held at the family’s convenience.

George R. Bensley

ALBION – George R. “Boppa” Bensley, 86, passed away at the NYS Veterans Home in Batavia on October 14, 2022. He was born June 18, 1936 in Middleport to the late Gerald and Ruth (Davey) Bensley.

George honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960. He was the past commander and very active in the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time at the farm that he called “Ponderosa”. George worked as a foreman at Rochester Products before he retired in 1991.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his 1st wife, Arlene (Dujenski) Bensley, and 2nd wife, Joyce Bensley.

George is survived by his children, Gerry (Lynn) Bensley, Sandra (Teresa Irizarry) Bensley and Tammy (Arnie) Allen; grandchildren, Ashley Bensley, Madeline Peglow and Shelly Siddons; 4 great-grandchildren; step-sons, Steven and Scott Gaylord; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Mt. Albion Cemetery (Single Veterans Section) on Friday, October 21st at 11 a.m.

John W. Murphy

ALBION – John W. Murphy, 49, passed away on October 10, 2022. He was born in Batavia, NY to Colin Peter and Kathy (Narburgh) Murphy and had lived in Albion most of his life.

He graduated from Albion Class of 1992 where he wrestled and played football.  After high school he attended GCC for computer science and used those skills working at Dime Bank for some time as a computer analyst. He collected and sold antiques from all over the world but was lastly employed at UPS.

John was an avid sportsman and loved fishing. His passion for music led him to establish his own DJ business and he enjoyed bringing so much joy to those who attended the events. John loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and family. He loved animals and wildlife, especially the American Bald Eagle.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ruth F. and William G. Narburgh, John F. and Elizabeth S.Murphy; and two uncles.

Along with his parents, he is survived by four children, Colin (Stephanie) of Albion, Alex (Elexa) of North Carolina, Rhiannon of Bergen, and Jamison of Batavia; four grandchildren, Kennedy, Karleigh, Conor and Colson; sister, Suzanne (Antonio) Giorno of Rhode Island; niece and nephew, Antonio and Mariana Giorno; several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and longtime family friends, Rebekah Karls and Katrina Chaffee.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 21 West Ave, Albion, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Orleans County Ducks Unlimited, 15664 Holley RD, Holley, NY 14470.
