Robert Gerald Hiller

MEDINA – Robert Gerald Hiller, of Medina, passed into glory on Sunday, January 15, 2023 after battling a swift and aggressive kidney cancer.

Born on December 14, 1962, he was a son of the late Gerald Robert Hiller and Shirley Virginia (Fox) Hiller.

Bob attended Alfred State College, where he met his wife, Lee Walker. After marrying and living in Greece, NY for a couple years, the couple moved back home to Medina to help the Walker family run Lake Plaines Implements. After those doors closed due to family illness, Bob worked for Niagara Ford in Wrights Corners for ten years. Wanting to branch out on his own, he came back to the implement building in Medina, still owned by the family, and opened Lake Plains Agri-Parts for a few years.

The opportunity to work with the public at the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy in Medina came along. We will forever be grateful to owners Paul Grout and Rick Mufford for their leadership and the opportunity for Bob to do a job he loved. Bob then worked a short period in the maintenance department at Medina Memorial Hospital before his tired body said “enough”. Over the past six years, Bob remodeled the family homestead room by room, creating a haven for family get-togethers, holidays and celebrations of all kinds.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Lee Hiller; sons, Bradley Hiller and Andrew Hiller; daughter, Bailey Hiller; six grandchildren; his mother, Shirley Hiller; brothers, David (Paula) Coleman, Gary (Lori) Coleman and Tom (Stephanie) Hiller; sister, Becky (late Bruce) Toter; several brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews; and many very dear friends.

Clyde Homer Maxon

Clyde Homer Maxon of Sebring, Florida, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 6th, 2023. He was born on December 12th, 1933 to the late Homer and Sara Maxon. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Ida. He is survived by his brother Glenn of Holley, New York and half-sister Jane (Tom) Bowdler of The Villages, Florida.

Also, his three children; Thomas (Suzanne) of Old Fort Tennessee, Sally Oliver, of Avon Park Florida, and Scott (Cynthia) of Sebring Florida along with four grandchildren, Jason (Tiffany) and Shaun, Trevor Long and Clyde Chase (Jules) Long and two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Sarah.

Clyde graduated from Holley High School in Upstate New York and attended Cornell University in Ithaca.

He was raised on a dairy farm and as a young man worked in partnership with his father Homer and brother Glenn for Maxon Farms.  In 1981, he moved to Sebring Florida and opened the AutoMax auto parts and repair facility, with his sons, Tom and Scott.  Then, from 1992 to 2006, Maxon Wholesale Auto Parts.

One of his great joys in life was flight. He was an instrument rated private pilot, a longtime member of the pilot’s fraternity Quiet Birdmen, and was an Angel Flight pilot.  An Angel Flight pilot volunteers their time and aircraft to provide free transportation to medical treatment for those who cannot reach needed care because of cost, or they are too ill to fly commercially or drive long distances.

Perhaps his love of flight came from his father, who was also a private pilot.  He loved to fly his family around in his Cessna 182.

Family members will remember a man who would deny nothing to those he could help. He would rescue anyone, even when they were doing dumb stuff (no specific details from any of his children, thank-you very much)!  His favorite hobby (besides flying) was helping people.

Clyde will be remembered for his wonderful story-telling, keen sense of humor and honesty.  He was a man whose hand shake was his honor; no legal document was required for him to do the right thing.  Our world will forever be blessed by having Clyde Homer Maxon in it.

There will be no memorial service.

Robert “Bobby” LaVerne Lawrence

HAMLIN – Robert “Bobby” LaVerne Lawrence went home to be with his Lord on Jan. 4 2023 at the age of 59. He was born May 31, 1963 to the late LaVerne and Mary (Edwards) Lawrence in Albion, NY and lived in the area most of his life.

Bobby had a lifelong appreciation for cars, working as a detailer and running a shop with his brother David for a time. He loved NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Jr and went to the races with his brothers in North Carolina as often as he could. Bobby loved his family and spent many of his days with “the brothers”, playing euchre, listening to rock n’ roll and drinking Labatt Blue. He was a true Western NYer who billieved in the Buffalo Bills and hated Tom Brady.

Bobby was the last one up at every bonfire, blasting music from his truck and keeping the party going. You’d wake up in the morning and he’d greet you with a “hey man”, still sitting by the fire with his music playing. He had the best sound system and wasn’t afraid to let everyone hear it. If he wasn’t playing music for you, he was making you laugh. Bobby brought the jokes and even when they weren’t funny, his laugh was so infectious you were laughing anyway. No get-together was complete without Bobby present.

He will be sadly missed and always hold a place in our hearts. Left to cherish his memory are “the brothers” Michael Lawrence, Paul (Cindy) Lawrence, David (Denise) Lawrence, and Joesph (Jackie) Lawrence, his sisters, Ann (Steven) Chew, Judy Edwards, and Mary (Scott) Patten, his daughters, grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service, but if you were lucky enough to know Bobby, drink a Labatt Blue in his honor during the Buffalo Bills game. That would surely make him smile down at you.

Bobby’s arrangements have been entrusted to Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Albion, NY
