Wayne Woodworth

A memorial service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the former Riverside United Methodist Church, 735 Pierce Ave., Macon, GA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will immediately follow. Burial will take place at a later date in Lyndonville, New York.
Wayne was born on January 9, 1943, in Medina, New York, the son of the late Ivan and Marian (Allport) Woodworth. Wayne was raised on a fruit and livestock farm and was a 1961 graduate of Lyndonville Central High School in New York.
Wayne’s college years took him to Michigan and Illinois. His first job kept him in Chicago, where he met his first wife, Jane Breder. Together they raised three children in the Chicago suburbs. Wayne built a successful career as an engineer in the conveyor industry and fulfilled a lifelong dream in 1985 when he founded his own conveyor installation company, Convey or Store. He operated the business in North Aurora, Illinois, until he retired in his early 60s.
In retirement, Wayne sought warmer weather, first moving to Vero Beach, Florida, and then settling in Macon, Georgia, in 2007. In 2015, he married Jean Ivey, a Cherry Blossom Festival Senior Princess.
Wayne was a Master Gardener and dedicated much of his retirement to civic service and environmental beautification. He was a former board member of the Arbor Conservation Board and a committed volunteer and former board member of Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful (KMBB). He was KMBB’s 2025 Most Valuable Player award recipient and worked closely with the Macon-Bibb Parks & Beautification and the Fickling Family Foundation on the Cherry Blossom Trees Revitalization Project. Wayne devoted countless hours to preserving and enhancing Macon’s cherry tree legacy. Passionate and tireless in his research, he studied hundreds of cherry tree varieties, consulted growers around the world, and immersed himself in horticultural literature – all in pursuit of cherry blossoms better suited to Macon’s climate.
Wayne traveled to the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C., to study Helen Taft cherry trees, which are more resistant to heat and disease than the original Yoshino trees planted in Macon. In his crawlspace and backyard nursery, he propagated flowering Helen Taft cherry trees with deeper pink blossoms. His enduring goal was to help preserve Macon’s reputation as the “Cherry Blossom Capital of the World.”
Wayne served as a church trustee and as a piano and organ player at Riverside United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong pianist whose special gift of music brought great joy to countless family members, friends, church members, and piano students.
Wayne was a man of many talents, known for his remarkable work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and boundless enthusiasm for life. He left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed.

Arthur James Greenland

“A pillar of the theater,” Arthur left behind a survival ENSEMBLE: He treasured his friendships & family above all else, with his most prominent CAST MEMBERS: Michael & Suzanne Enes, & Judie Champlin, lifetime friends, loving sister Karen Dillon of Medina, niece Julie Delgado, husband Rob & Children Sean * Abby of PA, cousins * many local & distant-prominent “close fiends.”
He was predeceased by his parents John & Margaret Greenland, brother Douglas & John 3rd, & a nephew Michael Dillon.
Art remained a bachelor, “friends & theater were his family.” This love for the limelight was sparked in early childhood in Medina, NY 1942, (born & raised). His grade schooling: St Mary’s Elementary, where he was an altar boy serving Mass at St. Mary’s Church with Father Amigo, who recently passed. At this early age, he desired to be a priest. Graduated. From Medina High School where “great illusions for the theater started” as a lead actor & singer performing in the famous musical “Showboat.” His high school clubs: Mirror Year Book, Sr. Dramatic Masque & Gravel Club, Athletic Council member & Given two “Citizenship & Honors Convocation Awards”.
His first “Paint & Powder Performance” was one year in pre-seminary. His second was in the military “US ARMY ’62” for one & a half years. Art demonstrated distinction & a unique quiet resolve that lead to receiving a High Skilled “Marksmanship Medal Award” with a rifle. His third show business limelight was working at the “US Post Office in Rochester” for 40 wonderful years with many dear friends, then retired.
Ladies & Gentleman… “Arthur has left the building”. Elvis was king of rock & roll but Art was a lifetime devotee & “Timeless Champion of the arts, always with a front row presence that will forever resonate in all of his favorite theaters.” Art loved traveling, vastly, which he combined to enrich his theater devotion. He always attended a play with a “private limo”. After a final curtain, Art would go directly to the female star’s dressing room to “meet & acquire” a signature for his playbill, giving her great reviews for her performance. Art always decked out in jewels, wearing his “elegant black theater cape” at ever performance.
On Broadway in New York, the West End Theater in London, or at Toronto’s Theater District, he had his final exit-stage right, while lights dimmed on the Glittering Marquee, leaving our world a little less bright as the theaters will never truly be empty as long as our amazing stories of Arthur remain. If one phoned, they would hear his proud voice singing a “seasonable Broadway song” as his greeting. Many tickets to “celebrity theater honors” at the Kennedy Center in NY or the the Kodak Theater in Rochester, were given to his friends, followed by his private dinner party, sometimes at the Rochester Club where Art personally gave an Academy Award Performance. He also gave tickets for “movie theater premiers with celebrities.” His final last act was after, where he reserved a favorite “decadent dessert deli” he loved sweets as much as the theater. His call board highlight was a gold card membership in the “The Theater Actors Guild” a private society that invited members to all theater activities in NYC with the celebrities. This famous guild helped contribute to the success of Broadway. Art was very kind and a generous person treating everyone like a star. If one sent him a gift basket at the “N. Home” 3/4 of the contents were shared with his staff. Arthur leaves a ghost light, a symbol burning in our hearts, that the play may have ended – but his performance will never fade. His life was truly a masterclass with passion for all he did.
The final curtain will be performed at The New Veteran’s Western New York National Cemetery (with a military service). 1254 Indian Falls Rd, Corfu, NY with a Memory Tribute Luncheon at a local location to be announced in Spring of 2026.
Arthur, we give you a standing ovation for a life well-lived. Bravo.
