MEDINA – Keith F. Fletcher, 63, of Medina, passed away suddenly following a brief illness on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

Born August 28, 1959 in Medina, he was a son of the late Clayton G. and Geraldine T. (Bennett) Fletcher.

Keith grew up in a large farm family, mainly in the Waterport/Lyndonville community. A truck driver by trade, he drove for Keeler Construction for many years and lastly for Shelby Crushed Stone in Medina. Described as a “working machine”, Keith was hard working to say the least. In addition to his job, he helped out on his friend Tim’s farm, was a great carpenter and could fix just about anything. Keith enjoyed hunting, going to the casinos with his brother Greg and friend Tim and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, Keith was predeceased by an infant grandson, Keith Fletcher III; sister in-law, Sue Whittier; and brother in-law, Larry Bale.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Keith (Reita) Fletcher, Jr., Amanda (Cassandra) Fletcher-Inman, Alicia (Joe) Fletcher-Waszak, Jason (Katie) Mack and Lindy Mack; grandchildren, Aubrey and Paxton Fletcher, Elizabeth Inman, Abraham Blair-Inman, Malakai Inman-Fletcher, Angelina Blair (Nick Tarpley), Kolton Fletcher and Shalin Mack; great-grandchildren, Bowen Tarpley and Genesis Rose Richardson; siblings, Gregory Fletcher, Linda (Ken) Lonnen, Laurie (Ron) Schlegel, Lee (Connie) Fletcher, Karen (Tony) Ricci, Jeanne Bale and Jody (Tom) Pawlik; also several nieces and nephews.

HOLLEY – John B. Dellaquila, 86, passed away May 25, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born October 23, 1936 in Johnsonburg, PA, a son of the late Enrico and Marian (Vavala) Dellaquila and had lived in this area for over 50 years.

John served in the US Army from 1954-1957 and was a member of the Holley Jewell Buckman Post #529 American Legion. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Holley for 58 years where he served on various committees. John taught English for 35 years at Holley Central School and belonged to their Teacher’s Association. He was chairman of the board when the Martin-Linsin Residence for Orleans County Hospice was being built. John was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing, fishing, watching Jeopardy and sports; but most importantly, through the years, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph Dellaquila, Grace Viola, Mary Viglione, Stephen Dellaquila and Rosanne LaFay.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann; his children, Mary Beth Dolan, Francis Dellaquila and Mark (Sara) Dellaquila; 4 grandchildren; brothers, Thomas (Frances) Dellaquila and Pat (Jacie) Dellaquila, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, 16650 State Rte. 31 Holley on Thursday, June 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church Holley, followed by Military Honors. Leslie T. Fisher, age 85, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

Born May 6, 1938 in Buffalo, he was a son of the late Theron and Frances (Burke) Fisher. Mr. Fisher served in the NY Army National Guard from 1956-1966. On August 2, 1967 he married the former Ruth M. Thomas. He was employed by the Division of Military and Naval Affairs for 32 years and retired as Superintendent of the Masten Avenue Armory.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Fisher was predeceased by his son, Leslie Fisher, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth M. Fisher of Middleport; children, Richard (Fiancé Wendy) Clark, Carol Powell, Sharon (Bennett) Grimes and Lori (Donald) Currier; siblings, Diane Davis, Paul (Linda) Fisher, Christine (Jack) Halligan and Marylin (David) Nesbitt; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

LYNDONVILLE/ARLINGTON – Linda (Newton) Baker, 71, went home to be with the Lord on May 12, 2023 at the Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington, Texas under hospice care.

Linda was born on November 11, 1951 in Canastota, NY, the daughter of the late Herman and Gladys (Niles) Newton. On July 4, 1985 she married the late Stewart P. Baker of Medina. The couple made their home in Medina until moving to Arlington, Texas in 2018. Linda was a stay-at-home mother and worked as a substitute teacher in many school districts.

Survivors include her son, Paul C. (Meagan) Baker of Arlington, TX; grandson, Graydon J. Baker; brothers, James (Bonnie) Newton and Daniel (Dawn) Newton; brother-in-law, Stephen Baker; several nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Baker on March 6, 2020; and sister-in-law, Theresa Newton.

There will be no prior visitation. Her graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, June 24 at 11 a.m. at Lynhaven Cemetery in Lyndonville with a luncheon following at the Yates Baptist Church.

HOLLEY – Carol A. (Marsh) Mayer, 79, passed away peacefully May 21, 2023.  She was born March 23, 1944 in Rochester, NY, a daughter of the late Frederick and Virginia (Coffey) Marsh. 

Carol graduated from Nazareth Academy in 1962 and after high school worked at Eastman Kodak Co.

Carol married William (Bill) Mayer in 1964.  She was a stay-at-home mom after the birth of her children and then went to work for 30-plus years at the Orleans County Department of Social Services. Carol also worked at Orleans County Emergency Management. 

Being community minded, Carol was a member and Treasurer for the Murray-Holley Historical Society, volunteered at St. Rocco’s Festival and the Hoag Library. Carol will also be remembered as an active member of St. Mary’s Church in Holley. Carol was an avid reader, loved the daily newspaper crossword, loved trivia and never missed Jeopardy.

Carol was predeceased by her husband, William D. Mayer; siblings, Robert (Maura) Marsh and Elizabeth (James) Pierce.

Carol is survived by her children, Barb (Ed) Snyder, Debra Mayer and Rich (Donna) Mayer; grandchildren, Andrew Krantz, Nick and Alec Mayer; siblings, Patricia (Charles) Donner, Catherine (John) Bovenzi; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Earl) Hinkson, Chris Mannara; brother-in-law Don (Jody) Mayer; several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, especially Art and Charlene Sielaff.

Carol’s family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home 16650 State Route 31, Holley on Tuesday, May 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s R.C. Church on Wednesday, May 31, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.

GASPORT – Jacqueline Granzow-Bennett, 62, passed away May 19, 2023 following a long illness. She was born in Medina, NY on April 14, 1961.

Jacqueline loved bird watching and was a talented cake decorator.

She was predeceased by her parents, Sharon (Barnard) McAvoy and Alfred McAvoy; and brother, Ronald W. Granzow.

Jacqueline is survived her son, Jeremy Granzow; husband, Dennis Bennett; brothers, Russell (Marybeth) Granzow, Harry (Margie) Granzow and John (Tammy) McAvoy; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jacqueline’s family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St. Gasport, NY on Thursday May 25 from 12 to 2 p.m., followed by her funeral service at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.

WATERPORT – Sidney Richard London, 78, passed away May 17, 2023.

Dick was born on Oct. 15, 1944, to the Charles and Ellen Gibson London of Waterport. He was a graduate of Albion Central School.

A born salesman, Dick began his career immediately after high school working for A & P grocery as a produce broker. Over the years, he owned his own business and worked with and for various farmers in the area.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and hunting. He volunteered at Habitat for Humanity, was a member of the Carlton Fire Dept. and a member of the 1^st Baptist Church in Batavia. He sold Christmas trees for many years and always wanted to play Santa.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wende Hall London, and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren – son Todd London, grandson Travis, and great-grandson Ace, granddaughter Morgan (Brad) and great-grandchildren Sailer, Remi, and Tallulah; son Dean (Martha) London, grandson Andrew (Katie) and great-grandchildren Charming and Finn; daughter Nicole (Dustin) Decarlo, grandsons Dominic (Maddie) and Matthew (Cate), great-granddaughter Halina; daughter Melanee London, grandson Cooper, granddaughters Piper and Bella; brother of the late Charles (Ann) London; brother, F. Jerry (Monica) London; sister Veda (Robert) VerCruysse, and many, many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at the St. Mary’s Athletic Club, 536 Moore St. Albion, NY at 2 PM on Sunday, June 4.

BROCKPORT- Elaine Marie Proctor born September 19th 1940 passed on April 28th 2023 at her home in Brockport New York. She’s preceded in death by her mother and father Gordon and Katherine Proctor and leaves behind her four children Frank and Dan Snyder, James Luft and Julie Shiley also her beloved grandchildren Garrett and Kelsey Luft, Mitchell and Emilie Shiley. She lived a life of adventure and travel and shared so much with her family. She loved the lord and will be laid to rest at St Joseph’s Cemetery in Albion NY. A graveside service will be held on May 20th at Noon.

ALBION – James D. McBain passed away May 17, 2023 at The Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca N.Y.

Jim enjoyed putting miles on his Honda Goldwing, tending to his chickens and spending time at his nephew and nieces, Tommy and Jill McBain

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Virginia McBain; brother, Ralph “Butch” McBain; sisters, Barbra LaBarge, Charlene Brown, Carol Farnham and Kathy McBain and his beloved dog, Nakita

Jim is survived by his daughter, April (fiancé’ Christopher Little) Hatch; brother, Michael (Darla) McBain; sisters, Patricia (John) Babcock, Christine (Robert) Baslow and Valerie (Ralph) Sterling as well as many nephews and nieces.

The family will be celebrating Jim’s life at a later date to be determined.

NICHOLASVILLE, KY/LOCKPORT, NY- Randy S. Vincent, age 62, died May 17, 2023 at his residence following a long illness.  He was born January 7, 1961 in Lockport to Douglas E. and Patricia (Brado) Vincent and had lived in this area until moving to KY in 2000. 

Randy loved animals, enjoyed bowling and playing BINGO.  Mr. Vincent was predeceased by his wife Kelly.

He is survived by his children: Erica (Kyle Cervini) Reed of Batavia, Nick Vincent of Pt. Jervis, his Mother: Patricia Leibring of Gasport, his brother: James (Kathy) Vincent of UT, his sisters: Shelley (Robert) Martens of Gasport, Tricia (John) Haney of Lockport, 5 grandchildren: Bradley, Alyssa, Aaron, Sophia, Bella as well as several nieces, nephews and his faithful companion: Bobbi.

There will be no calling hours and a private service and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. MEDINA- Richard N. “Dick” McGaffick, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 17, 2023.

Born March 26, 1944 in Lockport, Dick was a son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Kruzicki) McGaffick. At age 3, the family moved to Albion, where he attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School. In 1962, Dick chose to leave high school early and joined the United States Marine Corp at age 17. After 4 years he reenlisted. While fighting in Vietnam, Dick was seriously wounded in combat. He would spend one year in St. Albans Veterans Hospital in NYC and was discharged in 1968. It was during this time that he studied and earned his GED. Dick started working for Harrison Radiator in Lockport and it was there that he met his future wife. On September 1, 1973 he married the former Patricia M. Kusnierczak at St. Joseph’s Church in Albion. Two years later the couple bought a home on Maple Ridge Road in Medina, where they raised their four children. Richard retired in 1999. Several years later his health started to decline due to his injuries from Vietnam and the effects of agent orange exposure. He enjoyed watching television, using his computer and spending time with his children. In addition to Patricia, he is survived by his four children, April (Jason Strong) McGaffick, Richard McGaffick, Daniel (Alicia) McGaffick and Matthew McGaffick; four grandchildren, Briana McGaffick, Kayden and Brooklyn McGaffick and Andrew Strong; two brothers, Robert and Charles McGaffick; sisters in-law, Joan Kusnierczak and Tessie Pasnik; also several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Betty (Carl) Bull; in-laws, William and Marion Kusnierczak; sisters in-law, Carol McGaffick and Mary Lou McGaffick; and a great-niece, Skylar Pasnik. Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 22 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. ALBION- Susan Marie Borello Rovinelli passed away peacefully yet unexpectedly at home in Georgia on May 7, 2023 after declining health. The youngest of three children, Sue was born to Jack and Sally Borello on May 10, 1960 in Albion, New York. She graduated  from Albion High School. Sue had a caring heart for all animals and had many much-loved pets, especially Heidi, her white German Shepherd, rescued from Lollypop Farm, with whom she was inseparable for over a decade.

Sue moved to the Augusta, Georgia area in the 1980’s, and was an office manager for National Ambulance, until her health required her retirement.

She is predeceased by her parents, Jack and Sally Borello.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sarah (Braxton Stephens) Rovinelli, her beloved grandchildren Jaxx, Aurora, and Marlie Jane, the apple of her eye; her brother John (Paula) Borello, her sister Mary Ellen Neilans, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

MEDINA- Roger W. Benedict, age 77, passed away May 17, 2023 at the Martin Linsin Residence. He was born August 12, 1945 in Rochester to the late Herbert and Ida (Engert) Benedict.

He retired from Albion Correctional Facility as a Lieutenant in 1995 after 30 years of service. Roger and his late wife Betty owned and operated Benedict’s Maintenance and Benedict’s Country Store for many years before they moved to Port Charlotte, FL to retire. Roger was always able to fix anything and everything, whether he taught himself or had to read a book, he did it. Electronics was something he was good at in his younger years, building and repairing the family television sets. He really enjoyed playing card games, especially Euchre and also crossword puzzles. He was an avid collector of coins from many different years and it was something he was quite proud of. Before Betty passed, they enjoyed traveling together and will forever be “walking through the tall grass” together.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Betty on April 9, 2020, daughters, Debra Rae Ross and Lexi (Bobby) Simington, and sister-in-law, Shirley Benedict.

Roger is survived by his children, Rick (Lorraine) Benedict, Cheryl (Michael) Holt, Lori (Terry) Gardner, Bret Ross, grandchildren, Jeffrey, Alicia, T.J., Natasha, Dana, Travis, Rick, Debra, Ali, Najat, as well as several great-grandchildren, brothers, Richard, Robert (Kathy) Rory (Marie), nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roger’s family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home 21 West Ave. Albion, NY 14411 on Monday, May 22^nd from 11:00-12:00pm where his funeral service will follow at 12:00pm. Interment with military honors will be held in Hillside Cemetery in Holley.

ALBION – Diane Zybeck Krenning, 76, entered into eternal rest at her home surrounded by family on May 16, 2023, after living two years with pancreatic cancer.

She was the daughter of Edmund and Elinor (Kratz) Zybeck. She was a graduate of Medina High School, Class of 1964, and attended SUNY Corning.

Diane was a lifelong advocate for agriculture, politics, and cultural and social issues. She was also a lifetime member of the Orleans County Farm Bureau and active in NYS Farm Bureau, which led to her working as a lobbyist in Washington, DC for agricultural advancement. She helped successfully build and operate Krenning Orchards with her husband for more than 30 years, where they raised their four children. Diane later worked at Iroquois Job Corps for several years, where she advocated for youth development and was very active in gang awareness. Diane enjoyed cooking for her family, setting a beautiful table for holidays, time with her grandchildren, and watching her family grow throughout the years.

She is survived by her children, Amanda Krenning Muoio, Sarah (Peter) Morin, Adam (Betsy) Krenning, and Andrew (Nicole) Krenning; her adoring 13 grandchildren, Emelia, Jacob, William, Elizabeth, Seth, Katherine, Olivia, Ella, Ryan, Madeleine, Andrea, Kyle, and Kristen (Matt); and her great-grandchildren, Sean, Caroline, and Charlotte. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Sue Hermonat and Cynthia (Dr. Thomas) Cunningham and many loving nieces and nephews and good friends, Bill and Pat Eick.

She is predeceased by her husband, W. Bruce Krenning; parents; sisters Karen Janas and Camille Champlain; brother-in-law Louis Fredrick (Ricky); her mother- and father-in-law Julia (Brinsmaid) and William Krenning; brother-in-law Alan Hermonat; and son-in-law Joseph Muoio.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home at 226 Pearl St. Medina, NY, 14103, from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church of Albion at 29 E. State St., Albion, NY, 14411 with Pastor Susan Thaine. The burial will follow at Lynhaven Cemetery in Lyndonville, NY.

D. John “Jack” King, 88 of Glastonbury, CT, formerly of Medina, NY, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Middlesex Hospital, CT.

Gerald “Gerry” J. Stipp, 88, of Medina, NY entered eternal rest on Sunday March 5 , 2023, after a brief illness with his loving family by his side.

WATERTOWN/ BROCKPORT- Linda O. Sanford Passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at age 74 with her loving husband of 55 years, Charles W. “Chuck” Sanford, by her side. In addition to Charles, she is survived by sons David (Melissa) Sanford, Matthew (Julia) Sanford; grandsons Zachary and Nicholas Sanford; sister Amy (Gary) Westfall;  sister Suzette Castor and brothers Robert, Pat and Tim Olin all of Watertown; several nieces, nephews, and very special nieces and nephew Emily Westfall, Molly Westfall Steere and Luke Westfall.  Linda also had many loving and dedicated lifelong friends.

Predeceased by her mother Betty Sharp, stepfather Ivan “Red” Sharp, father Robert Olin Sr., step-mother Doris Olin of Watertown, NY; sisters-in-law Linda Sanford and Karen Brabon; brothers-in-law Paul Sanford (Nancy) and Charles Marthage (Norma); and her 4 beloved dogs Sugar, Princess, Kati and Moose.

Linda was a Master Gardener who not only had an exceptional green thumb but also a kind heart. Her passion for plants extended beyond her own gardens, as she generously shared her horticultural treasures and expertise with others. Her gardens were a true spectacle, worthy of gracing the pages of the finest magazines. Linda’s legacy lives on through those she touched with her gardening wisdom, ensuring that her knowledge and love of plants will continue to flourish for generations to come. Linda’s love of books was matched only by her dedication to the Seymour Library, where she served as a passionate volunteer and former President of the library board. Her commitment to education was evident through her invaluable contributions to the Brockport Central School District, where she played key support roles for many years before retiring. Linda also found solace in her membership at the Brockport First Baptist Church for more than five decades. Her beloved dogs held a special place in her heart, second only to her cherished family and close friends.

Richard M. “RC” Crowley, age 90 of Medina, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the Martin-Linsin Residence in Albion.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina, NY 14103. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
