Norma “Jean” Pollard

Jean was born November 13, 1947 to Edward and Marion Taylor. Jean was the middle child and proud sister of her two brothers, Daniel and Mark. The three were raised in Lyndonville NY where they all enjoyed growing up. In 1966, Jean graduated LCS as a very proud Lyndonville Tiger where in her senior year she was awarded the coveted “Babe Ruth Award” for her dedication to her school as a spectator and her amazing sportsmanship. Jean was the first non-athlete to ever be pinned this honor and she was always elated to have received it. Higher education was very important to her so she continued on receiving her degree at Rochester Institute of Technology in Medical Health Administration/Management.
Jean married her high school sweetheart Paul T. Pollard the summer of 1970 and soon after welcomed four beautiful daughters, Alison, Elizabeth “Libby”, Megan and Hannah. After raising her children at home until they were all of school age, Jean then went on to thoroughly enjoy a career where she managed the medical practice of Dr. David Bell for many years.
After a long-dedicated commitment to the community through PTA, LCS School Board, Medina Memorial Twig, LPC Adult Fellowship, LPC Women’s Guild, Area Christian Women’s Club, Welcome Wagon, publisher of local medical advocate authors, quilting group, numerous book clubs, and many others she finally retired to Jekyll Island Georgia with her best friend, husband Paul. While on Jekyll Island, the two continued to selflessly serve their community and their church in many facets which included their participation in restoring historic landmarks and building a jubilant music program in the Jekyll Island Presbyterian Church which has thrived to this day.
Jean will forever be remembered for her generosity of her love for everyone, she was so profoundly kind, a genuinely caring woman with the most forgiving heart. She was the best listener and always had the ability to guide someone to set them up for success. She may have been extremely competitive but, at the same time she was always a cheerleader and championed for the underdog every single time. The world was certainly a much happier place with her here, but Heaven will now be so much brighter.
She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Marion Taylor, father and mother-in-law Henry and Joy Pollard, her brother Daniel Taylor and her best friend and partner Paul T. Pollard. Left to admire her love and guidance are Jean’s daughters; Alison (Philip) Boseck of Canandaigua, Elizabeth “Libby” (Joel) Woodroe of Medina, Megan (Scott) Szalay of Belmont and Hannah (Bill Sipple) Pollard of Medina. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will live on in her grandchildren and great grandchildren that she cherished so deeply; Tyler, Andrew, Brandon, Ashley, Hayden, Gavin, Jamie, Luke, Abigail & little Jaxson. Also, her beloved family always in her heart; Mark (Lois) Taylor, Sarah (Craig) Lacy, Timothy (Karen) Pollard, Amanda Pollard, many dear nieces and nephews as well as an endless list of very close cousins along with lifelong friends.
On behalf of her entire family, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the entire staff of Orleans Community Healthcare “North Wing” facility where Jean was cared for like royalty. The staff there, from maintenance, housekeeping, nursing, dietary to administration were nothing short of remarkable. While there, she was surrounded by so much love and loads of fun every single day and for that we will be forever grateful.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the beautiful vibrant light of Jeans life on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Lyndonville Presbyterian Church with visitation of her family 1-2pm and her celebration of life to immediately follow.
