Beverly Quackenbush

Beverly QuackenbushBeverly J. (Moore) Quackenbush, 82, of Middleport, went to see our Lord on Wed., Dec. 5, 2018 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 24, 1936 in Medina, a daughter of the late Valentine and Marion (Smith) Waters.

She enjoyed gardening, crafts and puzzles, and spending time with friends at Darrell’s Place in Middleport. Bev was a member of Alabama Full Gospel Fellowship.

She is survived by six children, Dennis Moore, Kathy, Kenneth, Wayne, Robert and Tammy; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Donald Waters, Ione DiMarino and Marion Elmer; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sons, Ricky Lee Moore and Michael Quackenbush; grandson, Erich Coon; siblings, Dorothy Strickland, Virginia Carpenter, Valentine Waters Jr., Gary Waters, Raymond Waters, Larry Waters, Norm Waters, Lois Deyarmin and Joyce Michaud.

A memorial service will be held at a future date at Alabama Full Gospel Fellowship. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby.

Alfonso P. Zicari

Alfonso ZicariAlfonso “Al” P. Zicari, 83, of Albion, died unexpectedly at his home on Dec. 7, 2018. He was born Sept. 15, 1935 in Albion, a son of the late Frank and Angela Zicari, and he lived in this area all of his life.

Al was a member of Albion First United Methodist Church and the Lipton Retirees, and he was a former member of the Albion Fire Department. After his retirement from T. J. Lipton’s as a supervisor, Al went to work at the Genesee Brewery, ultimately making his final retirement from there. He loved car shows and watching football, especially the Buffalo Bills.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn, in 2013; his brother, Charles “Chuck;” and his little brother, Al.

He is survived by his loving devoted children, Susan (Jack) Dick of Albion, James Zicari of Rochester, Debra (Pete) Hennekey of Albion, and Michael (Roberta) Zicari of Medina; grandchildren, Lindsay (Charlie Monacelli Jr.) Sargent, Brandon Sargent, Christian Enright, Kevin and Jeffrey Dick, and Brad Donnelly-Zicari; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Landon Standish, and Charles Monacelli III; his sister, Mary Ann Pestell of Albion; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. Al’s memorial service will be held Sat., Dec. 15 at 11 a.m. at Albion First United Methodist Church (Albion Christ Episcopal Church), 26 S. Main St., Albion NY 14411. Entombment will be private in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

James Bruce Winters

James Winters

James Bruce “Jamie” Winters, 60, of Medina, went to be with the Lord on Tue., Dec. 4, 2018 at United Memorial Hospital, Batavia.

Born on Jan. 31, 1958 in Medina, he was the son of his late father, Arthur (Jean) Winters and his late mother, Grace (Walter) Litchfield.

Jamie graduated from Holley High School in 1976 and went to work in his father’s company, Winters Feed Service, on Ridge Road in Medina. He married the former Phyllis Pries on July 22, 1978, and together they raised a son. In 1995, Jamie started his own feed store, Jeff-Ja Trucking on Ridge Road, Medina. Jamie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. In his spare time, he raised cattle and had a passion for antique cars.

Jamie is survived by his wife of 40 years, Phyllis; and a son, Jeffrey (Kristi) Winters of Albany, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Stella and Benjamin Winters; two brothers, Doug (Bev) Winters of Medina and Robert (Marsha) Winters of Medina; step-siblings, Diane (Joe) McAvinney of Philadelphia, Wayne Litchfield of Medina, Linda Clark of Medina and Rob (Ann) Fulwell of Medina; a sister-in-law, Barbara Farley of Medina; three brothers-in-law, William (Julie) Pries of Lyndonville, Daniel (Lori) Pries of Kendall and Arthur (Pam) Satkowski of Las Vegas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call on Fri., Dec. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bogan & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St., Medina NY 14103, where a funeral service will be held on Sat., Dec. 8 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Stephenson officiating. Burial will be in Hartland Cemetery.

Richard D. Keppler

Richard KepplerMr. Richard D. Keppler, 68, of West Shelby, died suddenly on Dec. 1, 2018 in the Town of Orangeville, Wyoming County, while enjoying a day out hunting with friends.

Dick was born in Buffalo, March 25, 1950, a son of the late Charles E. and Marjorie (Forrestel) Keppler Sr. A graduate of Akron High School, he married the former Cathleen Denny on Aug. 21, 1976. Dick was the owner of A-1 Water Care for 30 years. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and skiing. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, the NRA and Ducks Unlimited.

He is survived by his wife, Cathleen; three children, Richard (Abbi) Keppler Jr., Dawn (Eric) Cousens and Megan (Niall) Boyle; grandchildren, Richard “Bubby,” Samuel James, Grace Anne, Emma Louise, Niall Lucius and Ginerva Kathleen; siblings, Charles (Patricia) Keppler Jr., William (Susan) Keppler, Peter (Cheryl) Keppler, Mary Herbert, Marjorie Keppler, Martha (Paul) Jansen and Philip (Dawn) Keppler; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call on Thu., Dec. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial on Fri., Dec. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Stephen’s Church, Middleport.

Richard A. Chilson

Richard ChilsonRichard A. “Dick” Chilson, 77, of Clarendon, passed away on Dec. 3, 2018 after a long illness. He was born Aug. 19, 1941 to the late Samuel and Marjorie (Wilcox) Chilson.

Dick loved spending time outdoors, including making maple syrup and tending to his beehives. He was a longtime small engine mechanic and was the family handyman who did a lot of his own work on his home. He also enjoyed helping his son, Dakota, with his Scout projects, including his Eagle project. Dick was a selfless man who always helped others before himself.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Mick, Marty, Roy, Sam, and Stella Sargent.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Cindy; children, Chris (Debbie Fiorito) Chilson, Renee (Rafael) Monroy, Denise (Kevin Miller) Wilson, Mandy (Keith) Roth, Kristi Chilson and Dakota Chilson; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Roger (Hazel Bickham) Chilson, Dora (Jim) Tice, Nora (Jerry) Walters, Larry (Rita) Chilson, Linda (Dan) McDonald, Leota (Duane) McClure and Bruce (Emily) Chilson; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Sat., Dec. 8 from 12 to 2 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Route 31, Holley NY 14470, where his funeral service will be held immediately following at 2 p.m. A gathering will be held after the service at the Fancher-Hulberton-Murray Fire Hall, 3353 Hulberton Road, Holley NY 14470.

William J. Sanford

William SanfordWilliam J. “Billy” “Buddy” Sanford, 77, of Albion, passed away Dec. 4, 2018 at Medina Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 16, 1941 in the Town of Gaines, a son of the late Sumner and Thelma (Payne) Sanford.

Billy was an active member of the Albion community. He was always helping someone, whether it was shoveling snow, running errands, or taking care of his neighbors’ animals. Billy “wore many hats.” He was even honored by the community with Billy Sanford Day. Buddy loved music, movies, riding his TriRod, fishing, traveling and gambling. His greatest joy was spending time with his loving family.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Florence Pace, Donald Sanford, Dorothy Frank, Helen Maynard and Robert Sanford.

Billy is survived by his sisters, Delores Hackenberg of Medina and Betty Christopher of Albion; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sat., Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion, where his funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.

Donna J. (McPherson) Thompson, 75, of Basom, died on Dec. 3, 2018.

She was the wife of Roland R. Thompson; mother of Shari (Michael) Maak, Shawn (Janet) Ingalsbe, Brian (Amy) Thompson, Jason (Gail) Thompson and the late Roland Jr. and Raymond Thompson; and sister of Carl McPherson, Charlene Payne, and the late Dianna Massey and Duane (Becky) McPherson. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Hudson BuschHudson Bennett Busch, of Medina, the infant son of Glen and Valerie Busch II, was born sleeping on Fri., Nov. 30, 2018 at United Memorial Hospital in Batavia.

Hudson was the grandson of paternal grandparents, Glen and Brenda Busch of Knowlesville, and maternal grandparents, Larry and Holly Childs of Middleport; and the nephew of Tanya (Tristan) Komorowski of Webster, Michael Busch of Batavia and Larry (Melissa) Childs of Basom.

Roxanna Reckahn

Mrs. Roxanna Jean Reckahn, of East Shelby, passed away on Dec. 1, 2018 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home.

Jeannie was born in Medina, Nov. 5, 1937, a daughter of the late Milton and Catherine Jessie (Howe) Green. A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1955, she was a lifelong resident of East Shelby. She was employed as a bookkeeper for R.N. Parsons & Son and Agway Energy Products. An active 60-year member of the East Shelby Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, she served faithfully and was a Past President from November 1965 to October 1967, and from November 1977 to October 1979. Jeannie was a member of East Shelby Community Bible Church and was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jeannie was kind and loving to all.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Ralph; two children, Bruce (Sara) Reckahn and Catherine Buzanski; two stepchildren, James (Diane) Ralph and Todd (Nicole) Ralph; eight grandchildren, Emily (Joel) Lindsay-Stavange, Rebecca (Ben) Lindsay Schiffer, David “Jake” Lindsay, Cynthia “CJ” Buzanski, Chance Buzanski, Jessi (Travis) Gallop, Stacey (James) Byrd and Jamie Ralph; four great-grandchildren, Harriet Schiffer, Carson and Kennedy Byrd, and Vivian Ralph; her brother, David (Jessie) Green; her son-in-law, David (Brenda) Lindsay; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Milton and Catherine Jessie; her daughter, Cynthia A. Reckahn Lindsay on March 27, 1994; and her daughter-in-law, Beth Case.

On Thu., Dec. 6 at 4:30 p.m., relatives and friends are invited to attend dinner at the East Shelby Volunteer Fire Company. Jeannie’s Celebration of Life Service will be held following dinner at 6 p.m. at East Shelby Community Bible Church, with Pastor Erik Olsen officiating.

Gloria C. Walburn

Gloria Walburn

On Nov. 27, 2018, Gloria Carol Walburn, 74, entered eternal rest in Austin, Texas after a short illness. She was born Oct. 25, 1944 in Albion to the late Bruce and Gladys Baldwin.

Gloria was a longtime resident of Albion. She was a very loving, caring and gentle soul who loved the thrill of EMS. She loved crafts and sewing, and she was a proud member of the Conservative Party. Gloria worked as a school bus driver for the Albion School District for at least 20 years. She also worked as an EMT paramedic for LaSalle Buffalo and the Carlton Fire Department, and she volunteered for COVA. She loved her adventure flying down from New York into Texas last year on Dec. 6, and she loved her new home.

She is predeceased by her husband, Charles Walburn, who passed away on March 14, 2018.

Gloria leaves behind loved ones in Texas as well as in New York. In Austin: her daughter, Corrine (Merle Monnier) Walburn Banach; her granddaughter, Courtney (Daniel) Errington; and her great-granddaughter, Lola Ann Errington. In New York: her brother, Bernie Baldwin; sister-in-law, Linda Baldwin; and brother-in-law, Ronald Walburn.

A very private family service is being held in Austin, Texas for immediate family only. Memorials may be made in Gloria Walburn’s name to COVA.

Dianne M. Flick

Dianne Flick

Mrs. Dianne M. Flick, of the Town of Ridgeway, passed away peacefully at her home on Nov. 30, 2018 with her dogs in her lap.

Mrs. Flick was born in Medina, April 24, 1947, the daughter of the late George A. and Dorothy M. (Preston) Riches. A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1965, she married Tom J. Flick on Jan. 4, 1969. Dianne was employed at Medina Memorial Hospital as a ward secretary and, after taking time to raise her children, she went back to work at Picture Island in Medina and then Medina Memorial Hospital, in the medical records department, for over 25 years. She was a very active member of United Methodist Church of the Abundant Harvest in Knowlesville. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and making blankets, gardening, canning, camping and shopping.

She is survived by her children, Glenda (Douglas Merle) Shervin, Robert (Sue) Flick, and Lisa (Brian) Boyle; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Donna Riches; lifelong friends, Nancy Smith and Dawn Sage; several nieces and nephews; and her dogs, Ollie and Wrigley.

She was predeceased by her husband, Tom J. Flick, on March 5, 2017; her parents, George and Dorothy; and her brother, Melvin G. Riches, on March 18, 2013.

Dianne’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sat., Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Abundant Harvest Fellowship Hall, 3619 Knowlesville Road, Knowlesville. The Reverend Marilyn J. Kasperek will officiate. Interment will be in the spring of 2019 at Bates Road Cemetery.

Chester Boring

Chester BoringChester Arthur Boring, 82, of Albion, passed away peacefully at home Dec. 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Chet was born Oct. 31, 1936 in New Florence, Pa., a son of the late Roy and Hazel Boring.

Chet was a member of Eagle Harbor United Methodist Church, where his daughter Susan is pastor. He was a former employee of T.J. Lipton and the Orleans County D.P.W. Chet was a member of Hook & Ladder Co. of the Albion Fire Department, St. Mary’s Athletic Club, St. Mary’s Archer’s Club, B. P.O. Elks Lodge #1006, and Strickland Post #4635 VFW.

Chet always kept busy, enjoying bowling, hunting, golfing, fishing, gardening, dancing, camping, roller skating and snowmobiling. Chet will be remembered as a wonderful husband, loving father and adoring grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elsie; children, Reverend Susan Boring, Darlene (Mark) Nenni and Brett Boring; grandchildren, Chester and Emilee Boring; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thu., Dec. 6 at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion.
