Joan Z. Hudson
Joan Z. Hudson, of Albion, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Jan. 26, 2020 after a very brief stay at Hospice of Orleans.
Joan was born in Kendall on May 17, 1929 to Dorothy and Earl Zorn. Her early years were spent at the County House, where her Dad was employed. Later, the family moved to the Albion Eagle Harbor Road farm, where she lived until completing her elementary education degree at Brockport State Teachers College. In the meantime, she attended the Gaines Basin Road one-room school and Albion High School.
Joan started her teaching career in Nunda, N.Y. On Aug. 12, 1950, she and William H. Hudson were married at First Baptist Church in Albion. In October 1951, Mark arrived, and Gail was born in February 1954. Once Mark and Gail were in school, Joan resumed her teaching career and taught kindergarten for many years in Albion.
Joan and Bill enjoyed almost 63 years of marriage. While family was always her first priority, Joan was very active in the life of First Baptist Church and, later, in Barre Center Presbyterian Church. She and Bill had a passion for traveling, which took them to many far-off places around the world. In addition to being an excellent cook, Joan enjoyed square dancing, bowling, collectibles, parties and outings with friends, and attending Bills games in the Super Bowl years. Joan was known for her quick wit and, at times, her uncontrollable fits of laughter.
Joan was predeceased by Bill in 2013.
She is survived by Mark and Ellen Hudson of Louisville, Ky.; Gail and Bill Allen of Waterport; five grandchildren, Eric (Becky), Michael (Paula), Kory (Gina), Brian (Naomi), and Joanna (Jonathan); 10 great-grandchildren, Bailey, Dylan, Brady, Cody, Grace, Simon, Emma, Gabriel, Silas and Caleb; and nieces, Sharon and Barbara and their families.
The family would like to thank longtime neighbors Mike and Kyrs Elam for their help over the years. We would also like to thank the staff of The Willows for taking such good care of Mom, Granny and Great Grammy for the last 20 months, and Hospice of Orleans for the care they provided during Joan’s last days. Finally, a big thank you to Marita Dumrese, to whom Joan was affectionately known as “Zippy,” for the hours and hours of care and companionship.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later, warmer and less snowy date.
Memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s name to Hospice of Orleans, P.O. Box 489, Albion NY 14411.
Joan’s arrangements have been entrusted to Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 21 West Ave., Albion NY 14411. To share a special memory of Joan, please visit www.mitchellfamilyfuneralhomes.com.

Michael C. Trimm

As a young man, he was an all-star athlete and sports enthusiast, especially when it came to baseball. He received an accounting degree from the Hartford Institute of Accounting in 1970 and worked 24 years for Eastman Kodak Company before medically retiring in 1992.
On Aug. 29, 1970, he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Darla Ann Patterson. After a year in Connecticut, they moved to the Rochester area where, together, they set up their home in Kendall and lovingly raised two children, Tacha and Anthony, and their grandson, Cody.
Mike had a lifelong passion and love for the game of baseball. He enjoyed living life on the ballfield, strategizing in the dugout, or cheering (and keeping score) in the stands. He enthusiastically volunteered to coach and mentor various teams and players from tee-ball to American Legion baseball over three decades, affecting generations of aspiring ballplayers. In 2009, Mike received The Eileen Heye Adult Volunteer Recognition Award, which is presented to an adult who serves the youth of Orleans County in a volunteer setting. This award became his proudest achievement, just after that of raising his children and grandson.
He was well-known for his empathetic compassion, overwhelming generosity, nurturing soul, jovial spirit, and uncanny ability to make everything better with just his words. Also, his highly-requested but never-duplicated lasagna was second-to-none. However, above all else, he was best known for his unparalleled and unconditional love for his family.
Mike was preceded in death by his father and mother, Richard in 1990 and Georgette (Rice) in 2002; sister, Lisa, in 1990; and granddaughter, Emily (Watson), in 1994.
He is survived by his loving and steadfast wife of 49 years, Darla; daughter, Tacha (John) Gennarino; son, Anthony (Lori) Trimm; grandsons, Cody (Shannon Baker) Trimm and Benjamin Trimm; great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Trimm; sister, Judy (Joseph) Popp; as well as a plethora of cousins, nieces and nephews who will all miss him deeply.
The family will receive friends and teammates on Sat., Feb. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Rt. 31, Holley, where his funeral service will be held Sun., Feb. 2 at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Coach Trimm Memorial Sports Scholarship (address to be announced); or to Kendall Fire Department, 1879 Kendall Road, Kendall NY 14476.

Alexander Michael Sorochty

He is survived by his wife, Eileen (Stirk) Sorochty.
A survivor of lung cancer since May 2015, Alex retired from Delco after 33 years of service. He had a love of golf for most of his life and an uncanny need to have a hot dog whenever he could. He and Eileen enjoyed their 7-year motorhome adventures to Florida and cross country twice. He loved a good baseball game and spoke of his fishing experiences often. Any time he could spend beside water was a good day, and so his beachside condo was his happy place. He spent many hours over a 10-year period, volunteering his time to the Benevolent Order of the Masonic Lodge.
Most of all, Alex loved spending time with his family. The true pleasure in his life was attending their sports events and being part of their lives. To be able to make people laugh with his made-up language and animated facial expressions was always his focus at any gathering, along with his special brand of humor.
Alexander was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce; his parents, Michael and Anne Pasko Sorochty; and a brother, Richard Sorochty.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Barbara; sister-in-law, Sandy Sorochty; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter and Gloria Monacelli; four children, Lisa (Frank) Marcera, Cathy (John) Mallett, Donna (Bill) Donovan and Brian (Mary Ann) Sorochty; two stepchildren, Kristine Fredrick and Raymond (Sonia) Fredrick; 15 grandchildren, Kristy, Alyssa and Frankie Jr. Marcera, Stephen and Jeremy Mallett, Brandon and Britney Donovan, Loretta and Amelia Sorochty, Ashley, Colton, Victoria, Mckenzie, Giavanna and Cooper Fredrick; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Alexander’s celebration of life will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Albion. Details will be announced in the spring.
Memorial contributions in Alex’s name may be made to Wilmot Cancer Institute in Rochester, or to PAWS Animal Shelter in Albion.
