Judith “Judy” Martha Ehrenreich, 82, was called to heaven by our Lord on Feb. 21, where she is now and eternally celebrating in His glory, and she is reunited with her beloved husband, parents, and sisters.

Judy was born Nov. 23, 1938 in Middleport, NY as one of four daughters and a son to loving parents John and Estelle (Boratin) Gracey.  

After attending Royalton-Hartland High School in Middleport where she graduated in 1956, she worked at Marine Midland Bank. It was during this time that she met her forever love, Clayton G. Ehrenreich, Jr. 

Judy is predeceased by husband, Clayton. She is survived by son, Clayton III; daughter, Susan; son-in-law, Jim; sister and brother-in-law, JoAnne and John Efthemis; brother and sister-in-law, John and Marcia Gracey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Sat., June 26, 2021 at the St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1355 West Ave., Medina, NY 14103.  Interment will be private for the family.

Francine Barbara “Twin” Sanders, 68, of Batavia passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2021 at her home. She was born Feb. 12, 1953 in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Leroy Addison and Jessie Mae Sanders.

Francine was someone who loved to have a good time and spend time with her cousin, “June Bug” and best friend, Pearly.  She loved to shop, watch soap operas and wrestling, and enjoyed talking on the phone with family and friends. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her niece, SSGT Markeya M. Lucas Drisdom. 

Francine is survived by her children: Alfred (Gabbryella) Sanders of Rochester, NY, Latanya Harden of Hinesville, Ga., Leticia (Chris) Sanders of Albion, NY, Tajia Thelusma of Brockport, NY; sisters: Frances Sanders of Orlando, Fla., Joni Lucas of Roselle Park, NJ, Patricia Lucas of Rochester, NY; grandchildren: Xavier Sanders, Nikiel (Alissa) Harden, S’koi Sanders, Samiyah Mitchell, Samani Mitchell, Jordan Anderson; great-grandchildren: Zyla Rose Harden, Zalena Mae Harden; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Edward “Scooter” Hillman was born in Atlanta, Ga. on June 7, 1941 to the late Early and Odessa Hillman, he was the youngest of two children. “Scooter” loved and cherished his sister Ruth Barron, who still lives in Atlanta. He moved to Albion, NY in the 1960s and married Dorothy Washington on March 8, 1968.

He was employed by General Motors for over 40 years at both the Rochester, NY and Parma, Ohio facilities before retiring at 68 years old. Every day he woke up and lived his life to the fullest. He was known for his generosity, if you were ever in need of anything he would give you money, the coat off his back or whatever else he had to help you out. If you were ever looking for him you could find him at a casino or card table with a ring on every finger, a money clip full of cash with gold chains around his neck. Although he wasn’t a professional Nascar driver, you might disagree if you ever rode in a car with him, because he was hard on a vehicle. He was known for passing every car on the highway and calling them a “Jive Turkey” when he sped by.

On the afternoon of Wed., June 9, 2021 “Scooter” passed away two days after his 80th birthday. He will be missed by his loved ones, and everyone who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memory his only sibling, Ruth Barron; children: Gary Hillman, Darrin Hillman, Cassandra (Michael) Hadick and Kevin Hillman; grandchildren: Shardae, Kevin, Trevor, Destanee, Trenton, Kendyll, Kevin Jr., Devin, Rayonna; great-grandchild, Keishawn; best friend, Robert “Snake” Wise; and other relatives and friends.

Services for “Scooter” will be Sat., June 19, 2021 at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home with calling hours from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the funeral service to begin immediately after.

May 23, 1935 – Jan. 18, 2021

Marc F. Scarr, 85, passed away peacefully on the morning of Jan. 18, 2021 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.

His Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Mon., June 21, at Saint Joseph Church, Lyndonville, NY.  Interment will immediately follow at the Lynhaven Cemetery.  There are no prior calling hours.

Before retiring and moving to Virginia, Marc was very active in the Lyndonville community.  He was elected to the Village Board in 1989, and then elected to three terms as Mayor serving from 1998 to 2011.  He was also an active member of St. Joseph’s Church, the Lions Club, Masons Lodge of Lyndonville, and the Volunteer Fire Company.

Janet M. Rook, 84, of Medina, NY, went to be with the Lord on Fri., June 11, 2021 at the Batavia Memorial Hospital.

Born on May 16, 1937 in Medina, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thurman and Florence (Pritchard) Bayne.

Janet graduated from Medina High School in 1955 and on May 19, 1956 she married the late Gene Rook and together they raised three children. She went to work at the S.A. Cook Building as a Bookkeeper and then worked as a Teacher’s Aid for the Lyndonville/ Medina School System. After her retirement she enjoyed camping, reading and going for walks.

She was a member of the Medina First Presbyterian Church and served as Deacon and for over nine years and as a Sunday School Teacher.

Janet is survived by her children: Terri (Richard Heiney) Rook of Webster, NY, Geoffrey Rook of Mich. and Michael Rook of Calif.; grandchildren: Allison, Garrison and Stephanie; great-grandchildren: Raelynn and Michael ;and a sister-in-law and sister at heart, Mary Scheeder of Williamsville, NY.

Besides her husband Gene, Janet is predeceased by a brother, Jack Ainslie and two nephews: Jack Jr. and Robert.

ALBION – Lamar “Gator” Chambers, Jr., 73, went peacefully Home with the Lord after a long illness on June 12, 2021. He was born October 30, 1947 in Arcadia, FL to the late Lamar Sr. and Pauline (Wilson) Chambers.

Lamar enjoyed going to the casino and the horse races and washing his car. He was known for his loud personality and he was the kind of man who knew everyone.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by several of his siblings.

Lamar is survived by his children, Lamar III, Detdra and Tina; siblings, Bobby, Flora, Sherrie and Larry; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

ALBION – Stephen J. Turoski, 63, passed away suddenly at his home on June 8, 2021. He was born June 25, 1957, in Rochester to the late Sam Turoski and Irene Hafner.

Stephen worked at Alleson’s Athletics for several years.

ALBION – Tammie Ann Davey, 56 of Albion NY passed away suddenly on June 9, 2020 after her courageous battle with cancer with her son, daughter and brother by her side.

Tammie was born on April 17, 1964 in Albion, NY and graduated from Albion High School early with honors with the class of 1981 and lived in the area most of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family most of all but also found joy in gardening, baking, bingo, berry season for jams and jellies and she was an avid reader who also enjoyed girls night out with her cousins.

Tammie is survived by her mother, Jeanette Sokol; son, Timothy and Erin Conley; daughter, Melissa Olles; father to her children, Frederick Conley; brothers, Timothy (Janie) Davey and Terry (Rhonda) Davey; and her grandchildren who lovingly called her Mima: Devin Olles, Zachary Olles, Ryan Olles, Reese Conley, Adeline Conley, Wesley Olles, Ethan Olles, Charli Conley and not to be forgotten her beloved fur baby Shylow. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends who loved her dearly.

Tammie is predeceased by her father John Sokol and loving grandparents Clyde and Ellen Draper.

A memorial and burial service was held on June 11, 2021 at Mt. Albion Cemetery with close family and friends.

KENT – Kathryn A. “Kathy” Shacur, 78, died June 5, 2021 at her son’s home following a long illness. She was surrounded by her family. Kathy was born July 29, 1942 in Buffalo and had lived in this area for the past 20 years.

Kathy loved analyzing people’s handwriting, and art, especially painting and making jewelry.  She liked socializing and talking on the phone. Kathy taught art in Buffalo for many years and then worked as an Administrative Assistant for the University of Rochester at Strong Memorial Hospital, retiring after 30 years. She was a very caring woman, taking people into her home when they had no place to go and helping them, however she could.

Kathy was predeceased by her daughters, Anne Klahn and Leslie Klahn-Shacur.

She is survived by her children, William C. Klahn, Jennifer (Mike) Lapinski, John (Kristina) Klahn, Geoff (Michelle) Klahn and Michael (Ashley) Klahn-Shacur; grandchildren, Rachel, Phillip, Michael, Emily, Steven, Kathryn, Jessica, Matthew, Anthony, Ryan, Julia, Bré, Jaydon, Monte, Marii, Marcelles, Marlessa and Xander; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Susan Leggitt; brothers, Jim Leggitt, John Leggitt and Mark Leggitt; her best friend, Jessica Shur and many cousins.

Her graveside service will be held Saturday, June 19, at 11 a.m. at Stone Church Cemetery, 7828 Maple Ave., Bergen NY 14416. A reception will follow. Keegan Shae “Keegaroo” Bayne, 19, of Lyndonville, NY, passed away tragically on Tue., June 8, 2021 in Lyndonville, NY.

Born on Oct. 8, 2001 in Medina, NY, he was the son of Gary Leo II and Faith Anne (Wypychowski) Bayne.

Keegan graduated from Lyndonville High School where he excelled in the Advance Manufacturing and Engineering (AME) program. He graduated with Honors in the Machine Tool Technology at Alfred State. Keegan enjoyed hunting, shooting, fishing, boating and driving fast in Old Red.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his maternal great-grandmother, Barbara Halstead of Cheektowaga; paternal grandmother, Catherine (Paul Bacon) Wilson; and maternal grandmother, Patricia Rinker; siblings: Masson (Alexander Kelly) Bayne, Garren (Brooklynn) Bayne. Also survived are many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Darlene G.  Bilby, 87, of Oakfield passed away on Tue., June 8, 2021 at her home under the care of HomeCare & Hospice. She was born Aug. 22, 1933 in Morocco, Ind., a daughter of the late Lawrence Dawson and Verda Hickman Dawson.

She was a longtime employee of Fisher-Price in Medina and a member of Living Faith World Outreach in Albion. While growing up Darlene enjoyed playing softball and riding her horses, Julie and Sally. She took great pride in mowing her lawn on her tractors, “Big Red” and “Maude” and enjoyed farming, gardening, sewing and making stuffed animals.

She is survived by her children: Bonita (Joseph) Weese of West Virginia,  Carol Bilby of Oakfield, Lawrence Bilby of Albion and Ron Bilby of Oakfield; her daughter-in-law; Grace Bilby of Oakfield; four grandchildren: Joseph and Amanda of West Virginia, Kyle of Florida and Brian of Albion; two great-grandchildren who live in West Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her siblings: Dean, Dale, Daryl and Delou.

Ann C. Preston of West Barre passed away Jan. 17, 2021. She was born Oct. 20, 1941 in Lockport to the late Henry and Vera (Martin) Class.

Ann was a 1960 graduate of Starpoint High School. She married the late Clarence Lloyd Preston on June 20, 1964. They moved around in the early years of their marriage before finally settling on Allis Road in West Barre in 1969. She was a devoted 4-H Leader and Volunteer for over 40 years.

She was an active member of the West Barre United Methodist Church and throughout her years as a church member she helped out with Vacation Bible School, the Annual Church Auction, the Annual Chicken Barbecue, and various other church suppers and activities. She also kept the church attendance, folded bulletins, and greeted folks on Sunday with a bulletin and a warm smile.

In her later years, she liked to keep in touch with friends via the phone and complete word search puzzles. Ann has descendants who came over on the Mayflower, most notably Mary Chilton and Francis Cook. Ann also had a great love for baking pies and cookies.

In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her husband, Clarence in 2009; siblings: John in 1974, Linda in 1955; and brothers-in-law: Larry Preston, Bob Preston, and John Preston.

She is survived by her children; Terri (Jeff) DeDell, Jamie (Debbie) Preston, Michael Preston, brothers, Clip (Carol) Class, Tom (Joanie) Class, grandchildren, Emily Anderson, Erica DeDell, Jonathan DeDell, Oliva Richardson, Nathan DeDell, Sophia DeDell, Ryan Westfall, Nick Preston; great-grandchildren: Josie Anderson, Philipa DeDell, Iris DeDell, Kennedy Westfall, Denali Preston; sisters and brothers-in-law: Linda Preston, Dan (Lee) Preston, Margaret Preston; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Colleen A. Sauro, 94, of Holley died June 9, 2021 at Elderwood at Brockport.  She was born Dec. 26, 1926 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Cecil and Jessie (Davis) Moore and had lived in this area all of her life.

Colleen loved to crochet, play bingo, go to the casino and play scratch-off tickets.  She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing games on her tablet.  She worked for many years as a machine operator at Kodak in Rochester.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard in 2007; brothers: Cecil Moore, Clifford Moore and Ronald Moore.  She is survived by her son, Larry (Pat) Sauro; daughter, Janice (Brad) Broekhuizen; grandchildren: Bob Sauro, Shannon (Tim) Sauro, Joelle (Dan) Pfennig, Zachary (Jessica) Broekhuizen; great-grandchildren: Kendra Quill, Gina Sauro and Wyatt Broekhuizen; siblings: Zola Smith, Vera Kingdollar, Frieda Sabo, Betty Faulks, Bernice Smith, Robert Moore, David (Becky) Moore, Sandy (Jerome) Kozlowski; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Levasco Albert Smith, 92, of Brockport passed away June 8, 2021. He was born March 3, 1929 in Pikeville, KY to the late William and Leatha (Gross) Smith.

Levasco enjoyed fishing and camping whenever he had the chance. He worked for Kodak for a time and also Duffy Motts

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Eunice (Maynard) Smith; daughter, Terry McMurray; and several siblings.

Grace (Norma) Dolan, 88, of Holley died June 8, 2021 at LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.  She was born Dec. 15, 1932 in Salem, Mass., a daughter of the late Albert J. Sr. and Grace (Cunningham) Denis and had lived in this area most of her life. 

 Grace and her late husband Charles, enjoyed camping and square dancing.  Grace also enjoyed doing crafts, her flower gardens and her dogs.

 She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; son, Richard; and grandson, Kevin Diehl.  Grace is survived by her daughter, Doreen (George) Diehl; daughter-in-law, Barbara Dolan; grandchildren: Michael (Kerri) Diehl, Kylene (James) Smith, Shawn (April) Diehl, Jeremy Dolan, Joshua (Nikki) Dolan, Jacob (Monica) Dolan; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Glenn E. Woolston, 91, of Waterport died May 29, 2020 following a long illness and a result of COVID-19.  Glenn was a member of the Gaines Congregational Church and lifetime member of the Carlton Fire Co. He was co-owner of Cedar Valley Lodging for 33 years. Glenn was one of the founding members of Gaines Valley Airport and volunteered his time with the Young Eagles Flyers Club. 

A Celebration of Glenn’s life will be Sun., June 20, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Carlton Rec Hall, 1853 Oak Orchard Rd., Albion, NY 14411.

Mrs. H. Lorraine “DeDe” Root, of the Town of Barre, passed away on Sun., June 6, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Medina on July 11, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Helen (Parker) Webber. Mrs. Root was a graduate of Medina High School, class of 1946. She married F. Pierson Root on Nov. 18, 1950 and together raised a family of six children.

Mrs. Root was a lifelong resident of the Medina area. She owned and operated Four Seasons Fabrics for 16 years. She was a dedicated lifelong member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served as the first President of the church board. Active in the community, she was a member of the Lee-Whedon Memorial Library Board of Trustees, the Tuesday Club, Orleans County Child Welfare Association, Medina Memorial Hospital Twig Association and the Hospice of Orleans original organizing committee. She enjoyed playing women’s softball for 30 years and bowled for over 50 years. She traveled extensively worldwide.

Survivors include six children: Rick (Linda) Root, Robin L. (Dawn) Root, R. Scott (Tony McMurtrie) Root, Dale S. (Helen) Root, Pamela (Michael) Maryjanowski and Lisa (Anthony) Acosta; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Alice Webber; several nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Pierson in 1996; her brother, Carl Webber, in 1981 and her sister, Constance Lyster in 2020.

The family will receive friends at the family home at a time to be announced followed by a Memorial Service at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Root family plot at Mt. Albion Cemetery.

John Jason Steffen, 60, of Albion died unexpectedly June 6, 2021 at his home.  He was born Aug. 21, 1960 in Rochester, a son of Gerald E. and the late Raphael (Barbarito) Steffen and had lived in this area most of his life.

John enjoyed hot rods, old movies, listening to music and playing his guitar.  He was known as “Mr. Fix it” because he liked taking things apart and putting them back together.  He used to love working on cars with his dad, rebuilding engines.  John was a “gentle giant,” kind and generous and always helping others.

In addition to his mom, he was predeceased by his sisters: Julia Steffen and Lillian Hordendorf-Steffen. He is survived by his son, David (Natalie) Cate; granddaughter, Riley; father, Gerald E. Steffen; brother, Gerald F. (Rosemary) Steffen; sisters: Janice (Michael) Wright, Denise (David) Lawrence; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frances M. “Fran” Oosterling, 81, of Albion died June 6, 2021 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Medina following a long illness.  She was born Aug. 10, 1939 in Honeoye Falls, NY, a daughter of the late Harry and Etha (Eldridge) O’Brien and had lived in this area all of her life.

Fran worked as a Florist for many years at Bloom’s Flower Shop in Albion.  She loved gardening and had the most beautiful flower and vegetable gardens.  She was very artistic and loved to draw.  Fran was a very active member of the Barre Center Presbyterian Church where she was also a True Blue member.  She loved to cook, bake and loved animals; especially horses.

In addition to her parents, Fran was predeceased by her husband, William in 2009; daughter, Brenda Oosterling; brothers: Larry O’Brien and Jim Laemlein.  She is survived by her sons: Derrick Oosterling, Scott (Tina) Oosterling; grandchildren: Michael Betties, Justin Oosterling, Melissa Oosterling; sisters-in-law: Katrina Oosterling, Johanna O’Brien; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Fran’s Celebration of Life Service will be held Mon., June 14 at 11 a.m. at Barre Center Presbyterian Church, 4706 Oak Orchard Rd., Albion, NY 14411.  (Please note that most COVID protocol have been lifted).  Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the church.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. Albion.

Tammie A. Davey, 56, of Albion, NY entered into eternal rest on June 9, 2020 after a long illness.

Tammie was predeceased in death by her stepfather, John Sokol; grandmother, Ellen Draper; uncle, Donald Draper; and cousin, Joseph Rogers. She is survived by her mother, Jeanette Sokol; children: Timothy (Erin) Conley and Melissa Olles, both of Albion; brothers: Timothy (Janie) Davey, and Terry (Rhonda) Davey. She was Mima to eight grandchildren. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends who loved her dearly.

A memorial service will be held Fri., June 11 at Mt. Albion Cemetery, Albion at 1 p.m.
