Holley bests Alexander to go to 3-0

Unable to build on a quick three run first inning scoring burst, Lyndonville dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to Notre Dame this afternoon in a Genesee Region League game at Dwyer Stadium.

Lyndonville grabbed the quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first highlighted by a two-run triple by Eric Neace and a double by Brandon Schoolcraft.

However, the Tigers were blanked on just two more hits the rest of the way.

Notre Dame answered with two runs in the home half of the first on walks and errors and later plated the game winner in the sixth, a tally set up by an error.

Lyndonville, which next hosts CG Finney in a non league game at 4:30 p.m. Friday, is now 2-1 in the league and 2-2 overall.

Holley 7, Alexander 1

Rebounding from a early 1-0 deficit, Holley downed host Alexander 7-1 to improve to 3-0 in G-R competition and 4-1 overall.

Joey DeFelice banged out four hits and also picked up the win on the mound scattering 5 hits and striking out 9.

Holley took the lead for good at 2-1 in the third inning on a two-run single by Lucas Silvis who had a total of three hits on the day.

The Hawks quickly upped the lead for 4-1 on a two-run single by Jon Bower in the fourth frame.

In other G-R action, Oakfield-Alabama used two huge scoring innings, a seven run second and a 10 run seventh to defeat host Kendall 22-5.

Jeremy Browe had an RBI single and Cody Spellan a hit for Kendall.
